Ice had been into the scene since 1988 when all the early warehouse parties started and would attend events with Lomas, Mc Saxon, Dj Mars, Easygroove and lisa who was the original Tick-Tock Crew (Swansea). At the time Ice was an Mc at numerous venues. Ice gave up Mcin since performing had become a chore and wanted to be part of the crowd, now again making an appearance on stage if the promoter had noticed him in the crowd. Ice then decided to become a Dj in 2001 when the new style of hard trance was introduced, Ice realized that it was time for him to get back on the stage at the parties and once again become performer.
Fattman got into the rave scene by lending a Dance Paradise tape off one of his friends back in 1995. Being to young at the time all he could do was buy all the tape packs which were being released. As he become older he started going out to the parties with his mates and started wanting to become a Dj. In 1999 he got his first pair of decks mainly playing classic hardcore and FreeForm. After a year he had got bored of the Hardcore/Freeform sound and started buying Hard House. Salted Slug put a free party on and asked Fattman if he would play, Fattman ended up playing an 11hr set and getting the crowd going wild.
His first club appearance was for Ultra Sonik in Cardiff Ice Rink and went b2b with Nick Welsh. As it was his first appearance he was put on the warm up slot, but the styles of music which Nick and fattman played Clashed as fattman was playin Hard House and Nick was playin trance. Even tho the musical genres didnt fit properly they got the crowd going wild and by the time it was the end of their set the club had errupted. Fattman was immediately made a resident and at the next event warmed up for Tidy Trax dj Jon the Dentist, once again Fattman had the crowd going wild and gained himself a residenacy for Aquaboogie.
Fattman & Ice firstly met at Ices record shop which was situated in Newport. Fattman ended up going down the shop every weekend keeping his record collection up to date. They immediately became good friends and started going to raves together. In 2005 they where both booked for a night in Bristol called Subsonica, the promoter noticed that both of them played the same hard driving nasty hardstyle and that they would make a awesome b2b duo. They had such good feedback from each set they played that they decided to become a full on Hardstyle partnership. Dj Fattman and Dj Ice are now renowned for playing the hardest side of hardstyle and for their nutty antics behind the decks playing at events in Wales and England. They have now become resident Djs for Rude Awakening (Cardiff), Psykotik, BPM, Entity (Bristol), Spunky (Hereford), Sindazes (Bristol), Luna Trip (Bristol) to name a few and have also played at Vortex (The Back), Bionic (Evolution / Lakota), Re:Birth, Totally Ardcore, Subsonica Tour (The Tall Trees), Absolute Hardcore (Lakota), Radical Technology (Lakota), Compression (The Orange Peel) and many more.
DJ Ice is not just a DJ but is also a producer having releases on Trancewarez (DJ Ice & Vandall Heart Attack) and a forth coming release on GBH Records (DJ Ice - Jamaican). Fattman & Ice have also got productions in the pipeline and are looking to take Hardstyle to the next level. Download
