Hard-Time Orchestra is a three-piece collective of Roots'n old Boots'n Blues, who play songs by Memphis Slim, Skip James, Woody Guthrie, Tom Waits and the occasional original pearl.
Hard-Time Orchestra appreciates that it's hard to find true love and keep it, make the payments, hold down a steady job, feed the dog and exist in this puzzle of politics and heartaches, and expresses a little heartfelt and uncritical love for all you folks out there.
Dear friends, I am playing a free gig at the beauteous Union Chapel, Islington this Saturday. The sunlight will be streaming through its vaulted windows as Blank Canvas and Arctic Circle present this gig during the blessed daylight hours of 12-2. And yea shall it's hallowed interior be filled with all manner of scraping, wailing and gnashing of teeth. Let us pray. And then let us go to the pub.
'Americana, folk, gospel, soul and psychedelia in an attractive blend, served up by an ingratiating singer with fine vocal harmonies on the side. Tommy Tokyo and his band will be this years breakthrough Norwegian act' - Great Escape Festival

Acclaimed songsmith Troy Faid launches his extraordinary debut album with a live performance at the Hyde Park Picture House. Faid has been described as ‘a young cat on fire... bristling with leashed passionate blues and folk’ and been likened to Alexis Korner, Bert Jansch and Kelly Joe Phelps. His songs, beautiful in conception and poignantly eloquent in performance, have been characterised as ‘decidedly English, wistful and modern troubadourish’ refrains, reminiscent of a time now lost. ‘Last Weeks Tune’ reinforces his growing reputation as one of the shining stars in the contemporary English folk/blues scene. Recorded using the natural acoustic timbre of Hyde Park’s Cardigan church, Faid’s chosen to launch and offer a first listen of this remarkable album, here, in another iconic local landmark. With special guest support from the incredibly talented Elizabeth Nygard. this is truly not to be missed.
It seems like years since the last Moorfest happened and to be honest I think the weather was very much a factor in whether people enjoyed themselves or not. Some thrived in the mud whilst others wept until their dads could pick them up. Moorfest is still carving an identity for itself and in the three years that it has been established I think I can say that the one thing that most people love about it is the friendly atmosphere, and this gig is a good opportunity to meet up with friends that perhaps you haven't seen since the festival, to make new friends, enjoy quality music, get a flavour of Moorfest if you haven't already been and also to talk to the organisers in order to give your opinions on how to improve the festival. We'll also be projecting your favourite photos that you've taken from previous Moorfests to create a live mashup that will adorn the walls of the Brudenell so please send them to bandsformoorfest@yahoo.co.uk and make sure that everyone in the picture is cool for you to use them like this.
There'll be much more to boot like gorgeous organic food, t-shirt stall, films and raffles to win tickets to Moorfest 4 which we're working on right now and aim to make it the best yet.
We really appreciate your continued support in making Moorfest what it is and hope to see you all there.
