Welcome to the page of Hard Venom. The first thing you should know is that we’re not a Black Metal band. Not primarily. Myspace is limited in the amount of genres it allows a band to list, and if we were to list every genre we’ve ever written in, we’d probably break it. Suffice to say, the best genre description of Hard Venom is just that: Hard Venom. We don’t confine ourselves to a single genre, let alone a single sub-genre. If you’re determined to pigeonhole us into a genre, then this might work: Progressive Black/Death/Doom/Thrash/Speed/Power/Heavy/Symphonic/Epic/Folk Metal with Alternative, Funk, Jazz and Classical Influences.
Good luck fitting that into a Myspace genre-space.
Anyway, some brief biographical details: Hard Venom was first formed in 1997. It had too many members, half of which couldn't play their instruments properly. By 1999 they'd given up. In 2003, Pukovnik Krv (guitarist in the original band) revived the name alongside new partner-in-crime Captain Epic. Without any genre in mind they started writing anything they felt like. Eventually they wrote a couple of songs, and went and recorded it with Attila. Alan Marsh also put vocals on Medusa, because Krv couldn't sing cleanly. One other song was written for it, but it was never recorded because it was silly. Having said that, Rule Britannia was quite silly too, but oh well.
Eventually it was released online as Anger of a Nation, Doom To Us All, because they couldn't find a local printer to actually make copies of it.
Due to the long wait between the EP and the first album, Krv decided to release The Perks of Being In Office as a single.
The first full-length was a concept album, called A Brief Repose Amidst The Screams Of Torture, which had about ten similar themes all running through one narrative to conclude in the same ending. Song-wise and lyric-wise, it was good. However, it was decided to record it on Protools, without Attila's help, and without a clue how to work Protools, and using a 6-pad hand kit for drums, the recording quality was dreadful. Some of it will eventually be re-recorded.
Afterwards they teamed up with fellow British band Adalruna to release The Broken Swords of Despotic Villainy. This was made up of a load of songs from the EP and album, mostly black metal in style. It was limited to 100 copies from Lokisson. However, Lokisson proved to be a front for drug-dealers, so henceforth please try and find it online and pirate it.
Next up was Elemental, an album with 8 tracks and 7 different genres tied together through the theme of Elements. It was largely recorded in 2006, but then stalled for two years as Krv was unable to find a model to photograph for the cover, and Epic was procrastinating on recording one of the songs. Eventually, in 2008 they re-recorded most of it with programmed drums, and Krv finally found a model. It will probably be released around Spring 2009, depending on whether or not a label picks it up.
After that there are many projects planned, the soonest of which is To Sever Ties With All Of Mankind, which is also being recorded sporadically.
