You may remember Harley from White Light Motorcade, a band that had a worthy buzz on the New York scene a few years back. Today, Harley has come into his own, on his own with his debut solo release “Side A”. Side B will follow as a throwback idea from the seventies having 2 sides to an album.
It seems as if Harley has taken what he’s learned throughout his life and transformed it all into an interesting mood-driven catchy piece of music. At certain times it sounds as if John Lennon wrote a song for Mazzy Star. “These are the things I have always heard and loved in music, it’s just now that I can experiment and express myself however way I like”.
The album will be released on Shampoo Records, a label that Harley has started through his art gallery/hair salon on the lower east side of Manhattan. He opened Shampoo Avenue B in late 2006. “We have this crazy staff that loves art and music. So when it was time to release my new record, I chose to bring it all together”. The album’s release will coincide with a handful of shows in NYC in Spring/Summer of 2008.
“Dandelion,” the first single off the debut is very palatable as well as smart. There are so many different influences, yet it sounds unique. Harley DiNardo continues to write his story in 2008 so keep an ear to the ground.
