Also, you realize that the French rioters in that article were rioting to BECOME a part of the system, not to destroy it? All of the "benefits" they gained were in order to go to college, pay for houses, stuff like that. Of course the government is going to buy into their riots- they WANT to indoctrinate people into that world. Furthermore, the article draws a correspondence with the American and French revolutions. Uh, first of all, the French Revolution did NOT give way to a better form of government. Second of all, the fight for American independence has NOT given way to a better form of government. There are many other aspects of the article I would argue, but it's 11:16 and I don't feel like I need to further prove my point. The article is right about one thing: wars ARE basically just massive riots. People kill people and blow shit up for what they believe in. Some concept, same effect.

And labor unions? Really? Labor unions got people KILLED when they rioted- KILLED. And they had just as much peaceful protesting going on, and it was just as effective and had just as much of an impact: in fact, labor unions were mainly ORGANIZED through peaceful protest So labor unions are not a good example if you want to convince someone like me that rioting is helpful.
3 (Yes, I skipped 2). Conflict is actually completely avoidable, it's just that people assume they must encounter conflict and therefore they do. But moreover, I have nothing against conflict itself in terms of it coming up: it's just that rioting is not a SOLUTION to conflict, it only exacerbates conflict by creating more of it. You don't have to fight fire with fire. In order for conflict to exist, people must participate in it. If the powers that be want to create conflict with us, but we refuse to engage them, then the conflict dies because it can't be sustained by one side. It's like football: one team and a field doesn't make a game. It's pretty much that simple.
