About me: The eureka (humboldt county) harm reduction collective is a support and outreach group designed to meet users and sufferers where they are at. We deal with drug addiction, mental health, chronic pain, co-occuring disorders(drug addiction coupled with mental health issues such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression)[can you believe that drug addiction can be coupled with such things?] (sarcasm) 80% of drug users suffer from some sort of mental health issue, but generally these things do not get treated at the same time.
As far as drug addiction goes there is a spectrum of use , from abuse to abstinence, we try to meet abusers "where they are at " and try to direct them towards a safer, more managable and functional use, and if possible, abstinence from drugs. We do not talk about religion(god, higher power, bs) or politics here, but we leave this to the individuals choice. we are not a twelve step program but we are a non profit organization desugned to help, we want to have th motto of recovery through creativity but leave more options open than just creative expression, please feel free to email your thoughts, and if you want them on the blog or in our quarterly magazine just say so. we can be reached via email at HSUHRC@yahoo.com. you are the captain of youre own ship, choose carefully which waters you will sail in.

We will be jamming to The Compost Mountain Boys, Bayoo Swami’s, Dub Cowboy, Wisdom, The Tommy Castro Band, and Prezident Brown at our third annual festival. Promoting the growth of sustainable living, organic lifestyles, and alternatives to toxic chemicals that are economically feasible!
Informed key-note speakers of current issues are Lois Gibbs and Allison Rogers. There will be many exhibitors featuring non-toxic and organic products, an all organic food court- home of the world’s largest organic salad, and an awesome children’s play area. Hope to see you there!!
Lifestyle: Addiction in Humboldt's Rock Scene debuts today on my show at 1:00 on 94.1 KSLG. James did an incredible job telling his story in there, so I hope you get a chance to tune in. We'll also be re-running it at 6pm this coming Thursday (Feb. 15th) on Plastic Jackson's show.
If you can't pick up KSLG on your radio, you might try the web stream at www.kslg.com.
this last meeting was excellent.
we postponed the zine one more week because some more people wanted to add to it, which is great, the topic this week was "what do you need to recover/stay sober/deal with your adversities" this is what we came up with
-keeping occupied-having a plan-define your triggers-have a support group-dont lie cheat and/or steal-realize your problem-you might need to change your group of friends-be good to yourself-ask for help"if you think you have a problem you probably do"-nutrition-the gift of choice-one day at a time
we were going to have the zine focus on some of these topics , all submissions art, writing, photography are welcome. we meet every tuesday at the placebo, empire squared (47 west 3rd)from 5:30-7pm
