Harmaline is a relatively new project, but it has been years in the making. Initially started by Ryan Dempsey and Matt Simpson (formally of The Secret Life), who have been tweaking knobs and making sounds together for almost 10 years now, Harmaline debuted at the beginning of 2007, after a chance meeting on the operating table with one Jeremy Dickens, also known as Logickal. Matt, Ryan, and Jeremy all met after the first NoPhest back in November, 2006, and after finding that they all had many things in common, musically and otherwise, it was decided that musical collaboration was necessary. Due to geographical differences (Matt and Ryan both living in the Sprawl of Atlanta, and Mr. Logickal in Nashville) collaboration was initially done through digital means. After kicking some ideas back and forth, songs were developed, and Harmaline played their first show at NoPhest in April of 2007. After a short hiatus for the summer (although, all three members continued to work on musical ventures), Harmaline has resurfaced once again.
