Emerging from their charter group Rubyfruit (est. 1999) at Uconn, and formed in 2000, Harmonious Soul is an a cappella group whose fabulous women are deeply connected to this musical pastime. Dedicated to peace and equality, this group boasts an incredible record, having sung at many popular state events and venues including the CT Citizens Action Group; True Colors conference; Children From the Shadows; and a successful post 9/11 benefit concert for the Revolutionary Association of Afghanistan Women. A solid reputation of a high caliber performance accompanies them as members have performed with Noel Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul and Mary), Kenny Rogers, Andy Williams, opened for Danny Glover and sung for the Indigo Girls and the Kings Singers. With an eclectic array of covers from Queen, the Four Satins and classical music, to the spiritually progressive diaspora of Sweet Honey in the Rock, this group's music is thought provoking as their sonority is deep. While drawing audiences with their blended sound, extensive range and their visual trademark of bright color splashes, this ensemble continues to perform in the state, singing from a self-invigorating and socially conscious repertoire.
