Eastenders “Nasty” Nick Set To Play Anglo Saxon Earl In ‘1066’   Credited with the creation of one of British televisions most reviled characters, actor John Altman is set to play Earl Leofric of Mercia in the forthcoming British epic ‘1066’. Altman appeared in almost 200 episodes of the BBC soap ‘Eastenders’ playing ‘Nasty’ Nick Cotton the errant and manipulative son of Dot Cotton. The character was so popular with the public the producers created a one off special TV movie ‘The return of Nick Cotton’ in 2000.   In February this year, Paddy Power bookmakers had set odds of 2/1 that he would return to the soap after it was revealed that Letitia Dean was to rejoin the cast as “Dirty Den’s” daughter Sharon Watts. As an accomplished musician and singer, with a passion for rock music, he has held many diverse musical roles, from energetic front man of rock band ‘The Heavy Metal Kids’ in 2010 to leading roles in the popular musicals Carousel and Chicago.   "We are very pleased to announce John’s involvement in ‘1066’ he is a great actor who will bring his wealth of experience to the set” Says Director Robin Jacob “To create such a longstanding and popular anti hero in the fast moving world of television is a testament to his ability to project the essence of a character and their underlying motives, however ‘nasty’ they may be.”   Earl Leofric of Mercia was a staunch opponent of Earl Godwin and loyal to Edward (The Confessor) until the Norman’s become a greater threat.   Together with Earl Siward, he was one of the most powerful members of the Witan, the council of Anglo Saxon Earls, clergy and nobles. There was constant rivalry with the Godwin family.   With a fantastic script, a solid cast, and a retinue of 'A' list crew members with dozens of box office block busters to their names already attached, this historically accurate portrayal of the events that lead to the Battle of Hastings between King Harold II and William the Conqueror Duke of Normandy, is the most ambitious independent production ever attempted in the UK.   With preliminary casting underway for the remaining 90+ speaking parts the question on everyone’s lips is:   Who will take on the role of William Duke of Normandy?   For More Information on ‘1066’ Contact lance@tigerfilms.biz   http://pro.imdb.com/title/tt1018103/

Mark Lester, Ian Whyte and Bronwen Harrison joined author Helen Hollick at the annual English Heritage Battle of Hastings re-enactment in Sussex, UK, on October 14th for the 941st anniversary of the Battle. Helen was delighted to have sold over a hundred copies of her book Harold the King - aided by the two enthusiastic actors and Bronwen. Several re-enactors strolled up to say hello, and Mark enjoyed questioning them about their chain mail and weaponry. Our thanks to English Heritage for their welcome and co-operation towards Lance Prebble who was busily filming events. Meeting Mark for the first time, Helen said she could easily picture him as Harold; "As an author I have a very clear vision of my characters - in looks and personality. Mark is perfect for the part, he will bring Harold to life." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "As an estimated big budget movie this is not an easy project but one that deserves to have the right production value rather than trying to do some low budget movie that devalues the story." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The CAST so far

.. 1066 is the most famous date in English history. It is the year in which Duke William of Normandy led his conquering campaign against King Harold II of England culminating with these two powerful and determined men warring against each other in the Battle of Hastings. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ British writer / producer / director Robin Jacob has spent the past four years researching the history and writing this epic feature film. In 2007 the acclaimed British historical novelist Helen Hollick, best known for her novel "Harold the King" joined Robin's project as his screenwriting partner. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The phones are ringing all the time with enquiries from Hollywood and U.K. actors wanting roles in this movie, " says Robin Jacob. "With 15 strong male and 5 female roles this is surely an ensemble cast production." 1066 is the last time England would ever be conquered by foreign invaders. The screenplay has attracted two Hollywood producers who joined Robin as Co-Producers on the ambitious feature film. Producer, the late Sydney Rose and his Academy Award winning filmmaker partner Christopher Carson of Hollywood based Reverie Productions, joined forces with British-born director Robin Jacob's Singapore-based Tiger Films in April of 2007. Said Christopher Carson, "Reverie Productions is proud to be associated with such an impressive project." 1066 - the MOVIE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Helen Hollick's World of Books Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Synopsis of HAROLD THE KING An epic retelling of the tide of events that led to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, told through the charismatic and compelling characters at its heart. England 1044. The Godwines are one of the most powerful families in the Country. As each of Earl Godwine’s six sons reach maturity, so they are rewarded with title and influence. Harold Godwine has inherited his father’s diplomatic skills – but none of his lust for battle. In Normandy, William, bastard son of a duke is trained to be a soldier. A charismatic leader he inspires those who pledge loyalty with the promise of ever greater victories. King Edward, both influenced and angered by his powerful mother, Emma, is England’s reluctant monarch. His passions lie away from the tedium of government, as his ambitious wife, Harold’s sister Edith, soon discovers. Meanwhile, Harold’s stature grows – and with it the pressure to abandon his love, Edyth Swanneck, and make an alliance of political advantage. William’s spirited young bride Mathilda has brought him land and wealth to further his cause – and a stormy partnership. As a power struggle begins to emerge, events take a dramatic and bloody turn - for the ultimate prize is England and a royal crown. In this masterly and colourful recreation Helen Hollick superbly weaves together the history of a powerful family of noblemen, with that of the aggressive bastard of Normandy culminating in the fierce and tragic battle which changed the course of England’s history at a place a few miles from Hastings......... isbn 1-905108-18-4 order from any good bookstore or buy on line from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk ALSO BY HELEN HOLLICK: Nautical Adventures with a touch of Fantasy for Adult Readers:

Food and drink was passed from man to man; Harold threaded his way to the front of the shield wall, clasping men by the hand or gripping a shoulder as he passed, praising, encouraging or sympathising with those who sported minor wounds, all the while exchanging cheerful banter, all the while trying to drive away the thoughts that screamed in his head: 'My brothers are dead! Both my beloved brothers are dead!" Was it worth it, this death, this carnage? Ah no, no crown was worth this dreadful taking of life - but then, no crown ought to be surrendered without it, especially not to a man who could so easily cause it all. "They will come again," Harold said to those who could hear, knowing his words would be repeated along the line of sprawled men. "A last time William will try for us again. It will be worse, I guarantee." He forced an encouraging smile, raised his fist in a gesture of victorious defiance. Shouted; "But then, for them, we shall make it worse still!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ from Harold the King by Helen Hollick: the Book of the Battle ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket drawn & donated to this profile by "Housecarl" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1066 the film plc
