Menolly is a fictional musician created by Anne McCaffrey; she is the main character in the novels "Dragonsong" and "Dragonsinger".
Tania Opland and Mike Freeman are real, full-time, performing musicians, who, at the author's request, worked with Anne McCaffrey to create the music described in McCaffrey's many Pern novels. The first CD was called "The Masterharper of Pern" and was based on the music of another McCaffrey character: Masterharper Robinton
