About me: Our club was formed in 1997 to promote bicycling in the greater Nashville area. The club has about 500 members from all walks of life who share an interest in bicycles and cycling.
We ride year-round with regularly scheduled rides from April through October. Our schedule includes activities every weekend along with Tuesday and Thursday evening rides during daylight savings time. Rides range from 15 to 100 miles and vary in terrain and speed. Every scheduled ride has a ride leader who makes sure no one gets left behind. New riders are always welcome and every attempt is made to make rides pleasurable for all.
In addition to our scheduled rides, we also have outings and gatherings throughout the year. This past year's activities included picnics, cookouts, canoeing on the Harpeth River, a couple of bike maintenance workshops and a Christmas party.
A helmet and roadworthy bike are required. Several local bike shops are available to help you with your equipment needs.
Harpeth Bike Club Ride (April 03, 2007) - Tuesday Ride
Come with HBC on a Tuesday Ride. Something for everyone and great people to be around. The video was cut short at the end, ran out of the tape. But the video does encompass nearly an entire ride.
Saturday Road Rides: Saturday rides are typically suitable for Level 2 & 3 riders who are comfortable riding on moderate to hilly terrain. Routes and mileage are determined each week by the Ride Leader. A properly equipped road bike is recommended for most Saturday rides, as the pace is usually not suitable for mountain bikes or hybrids. Occasionally Level 1 rides are also offered on Saturdays. Please consult the Ride Schedule for each week's ride information.
The idea of Bike Node is simple: "to help connect cyclists".
Bike Node is a free directory of cycling links for the global cycling community.
It provides a central place for cyclists to easily seek information about anything to do with bikes. It also benefits other bicycle-related businesses through added exposure.
The aim is to create the world's largest resource of cycling websites.
If you have your own cycling-related website or blog, I'd like to invite you to add any links to bike node free of charge (please suggest a category if you don't see an appropriate one). Thanks, Les.
I'm going to do an official club ride after this weekend I believe..I'm scared to death though after watching the video!! Cars zipping by...I'm used to my non-traveled roads and greenways.
Hey Brad...justa thought....what about posting the existence of this page on the listserv? Or, is it not an official deal? I think this would be a way better way to vent about stuff and even announce rides....jmho
