Catherine Anderson received a BM and MM in harp performance from Susann McDonald at Indiana University School of Music, having studied previously with Alice Chalifoux at Oberlin Conservatory and the Salzedo Harp Colony. Her early harp studies were conducted at Indiana University with Cheryl Fulton and Thomas Binkley. In addition Catherine has received her Suzuki Harp Teacher Certification with Mary Kay Waddington. She has made her home in New Orleans for the last 10 years, where she performs with a variety of ensembles, including the Louisiana Philharmonic, the Mobile Symphony, the Jefferson Performing Arts Society, the New Orleans Musica da Camera, and the New Orleans Trio. She is a founding member of the newly formed chamber music group Musaica, who won the Big Easy Award for best chamber music performance in 2007. Ms. Anderson is on the faculties of Tulane University, University of New Orleans, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, the New Orleans Suzuki Forum, and the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra. Catherine has served on the board of the American Harp Society for six years, and is current President of the New Orleans Chapter. She is also Harp Chair for the Louisiana Music Teachers Association and hosted their Harp Rally in New Orleans in April. Catherine and her husband, David Anderson, who is Principal Bass with the New Orleans Philharmonic, have two children. Kyle, 13, plays cello and electric bass, and Emily, 10, plays harp and double bass.
