    Monday-Wed-Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm

    Tuesday & Thursday 11:30am to 8:00pm

    Saturdays 10:00am to 2:00pm

    All programs offered at the Library are free of charge (unless otherwise noted), so come join us!

    We have a wide variety of music on CD available for circulation. Not only do we have the latest Grammy winners, but we also have things like Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar, Zydeco, Celtic, Big Band, and seasonal music too!

  • Filmler

    We have a great selection of movies on VHS and DVD. Classics, New Releases, Children's, How-to, Travel, Language, you name it we have it. And if we don't, we'll get it for you!

  • Televizyon

    Don't like what is available on prime time? We have lots of DVDs to watch on your TV! Did you start watching a show in it's second, third, or later season? Catch up on your favorites!

The Harrington Public Library was originally opened in July 1978 under direction of Jacquie Davis Nuss and Margie Bland. Housed in a small trailer, the library was stocked, staffed, and supported by the Delaware Division of Libraries until 1980. After receiving overwhelming support in a referendum, the Library became a department of the City of Harrington. The Library has been in its present location, a converted funeral home on Center Street, since 1989.

The Harrington Public Library offers weekly pre-school Story Time and monthly programs for children, as well as a variety of cultural and recreational programs for the community. The Library was a founding member of Heritage Day in Harrington which has been celebrated annually since 1979 when it was conceived as a first anniversary celebration for the Library and the Greater Harrington Historical Society.

The Library's collection has grown to include books, magazines, newspapers, audio-books, music, and movies. The Harrington Public Library has 8 public access computers allowing our patrons to search library catalogs throughout the State and giving them access to a vast array of databases and e-books available only with a library card! (What!?! You don't have a library card!?! Which are free by the way. Totally free...not free in the "you can get one if you buy something else" kind of way, but FREE free!!! Come on in! We'll sign you up for one!)

    I found that - unlike Amazon - Barnes and Noble has a lovely pre-order discount on my British-produced 6 CD AudioBook of The Secret Hunter!

    The list price is $39.99 (well, it is 6 CDs).
    But the pre-order price at B&N is $29.99 and if you’re a "member" (B&N member?) it’s $26.99.

    The AudioBook being released December 1st so you’ve got some time to pre-order.

    In order to raise funds for the Brick Kingdom Facelift we are raffling an official Major League Baseball autographed by Boston Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell. Tickets are $1.00 each or 7/$5.00. If you are interested, please message me and I will let you know how to obtain them. The raffle drawing will be held at an ice cream social at the museum on Sunday, August 31.
