MUSICIANS ON MYSPACE SONGS:

"Intro to I'm Old Fashioned" (unreleased live recording - 2003):

Harry Miller - solo piano

Someone sent me this "guerilla" audience recording of an improvised introduction I played for the tune "I'm Old Fashioned" with Maynard Ferguson's Big Bop Nouveau Band, whom I toured with nationally in 2002/03. This concert was in Tuscon, Arizona. Maynard graciously allowed me to play unaccompanied improvised solos on almost every gig. The piano miking technique being employed by the crew during this time could have been a lot better, but even with the inferior piano sound, and the restless crowd noise/coughing, I like some of the musical ideas present during the solo. Hope you enjoy it....

"Cheesequake" (from CD Jazz Beauty Supply rec. 2002):

Harry Miller - piano, keyboards, claps, composer
Steve Slagle - alto saxophone
Kate McGarry - voice
Dave Edwards - electric bass
Joe Foster - drums, claps
Bobby Reveron - percussion, claps

"Miller's DeLight" (from CD Jazz Beauty Supply rec. 2002):

Harry Miller - piano, keyboards, composer
Steve Slagle - alto saxophone
Avi Bortnick - electric guitar
Dave Edwards - electric bass, spoken words
Joe Foster - drums, title-giver

"New York Ego" (from CD Live at the Museum rec. 1998):

Harry Miller - piano, composer
Dave Edwards - acoustic bass
Vince Ector - drums

"Wild Cosmos" (from CD Open House rec. 1988 - out of print):

Harry Miller - keyboards, drum programming, composer
Arto Tuncboyacian - percussion

   About Harry Miller
Welcome! I am a pianist/keyboardist/composer living in New York City. A number of years ago I lived in Boston, and I grew up in University City, Missouri, which is part of the greater St. Louis area.

My primary goal and highest intention as a musician and composer is to participate in and attempt to expand upon musical languages, sounds, and silences that resonate within as being meaningful.

So far I have composed around 100 pieces of music. My guesstimate is that I have played more than 2000 gigs, and I've been to over 70 nations in my travels as a musician - but hey, who's counting?!!

Fortunately, I have participated in a diverse array of musical settings. I consider myself very lucky to be alive during this time and place in history because it's a privilege to have a job doing something I enjoy.

One principle I remember is to always stay open to learning and practicing new ideas. Some of the musical philosophies I learned early on have remained constant to this day. I also strive to cultivate an attitude of acceptance about music - an approach of knowing that no matter what happens, everything is OK. When it comes to music and art, I believe all sincere perspectives are simultaneously valid.

So far I have released four albums worth of material, and three of those recordings are still available through CD Baby (look to your left on this page). Thanks for your interest, good wishes, and support.

All of my musical teachers, friends, associates, and employers have been important to me, and I am truly grateful for all they have offered. With that in mind, the following is an attempt to list everyone in my musical past that I have had some sort of direct association with. My apologies to anyone who was inadvertently left off this list....

My Teachers: Diane Davenport, Mr. Martin, Mr. Klugsmire, Roger Davenport, Ken Palmer, John Brophy, Linda Presgrave, Dan Presgrave, Diane Stein, Michael Marra, Dick Odgren, Mike Gibbs, Mike Metheny, Pat Metheny, Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette, Steve Gorn, Paulo Moura, Olatunji, Nana Vasconcelos, Karl Berger, Lyle Mays, Arlene Hajinlian, Azar Gordon, Mike LeDonne.

Hey Harry Miller,
Thanks for the friendship! How are things in New York? It's warm and muggy here today in Milwaukee.
I saw you are a friend of Deepak Chopra's so I thought perhaps you might be interested in a new healthy Ayurvedic beverage and ground floor home-based business he's endorsing called Zrii, which features the healing Amalaki fruit from the Himalayas.
I hope this finds you well. Have a great weekend!
Wishing you peace, love, and prosperity,
