Harry Tanschek was born in Graz, Austria! While still a Student at the Jazzacademie in Graz , he became an active and respected drummer in the Austrian Jazz Scene performing alongside with most of Austria 's major Jazz Artists. He has also toured and performed with international Artists such as Mark Murphy, Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton, Clark Terry, Benny Bailey, and others at major Jazz Festivals all over Europe and the United States . On the heels of his success in Europe, Harry moved to Boston USA. He won a european scholarship Competiton from the Berklee College of Music and studied there for two years. After Gratuation he went on to establish his American base for current and future projects. Currently based in Vienna-Austria, Harry is an active free lance musician that includes projects in the United States and all over Europe with such artists as Hal Crook, Chico Freeman, Doug Johnson Trio, Alon Yavnai, Rick Peckham, John Damian, Bob Brookmeyer, Berry Ries, Jerry DeMarco, George Garcone, Phil Woods, Gary Wittner, Willem von Hombracht, Gerald Trottman, Steve Logan, Howard Curtis, Joachim Mencel, Janosh Muniak, VooVoo, Karimski Club, Ewa Bem, Howard Alden, Jim Galloway, Caroline de Rooij Group, Celia Mara, Eldis Larosa Group, Jose Ritmo y Cacao, Richard Oesterreicher, AIRBASS, Martin Lubenov Orkestar, Jazzta Brasta, Alegre Correa, Geri Schuller, Miss Moravia, Kris Jefferson, Hubert Tubbs, Grace Kelly and numerous other on-going music related ventures.
