Sounds Like
Nothing on earth. Harvey Bainbridge is known lyrically for his socially relevant commentaries which are both humorous and insightful. Musically, he will lull you with dreamy and spacey ambiance - only to jolt your consciousness awake with his trancey, pulsating beats and direct vocal approach!
Currently writing and recording in a project with guitarist, John Bootle, in a project named "Divide By Zero", he is due to hit the US in April 2008 and appear in the SonicWorldFest in Derbyshire in July 2008 alongside many acts he has worked with in the past.
He has long ago developed a unique musical style of his own and quite often will surround himself with keyboards, synthesizers and samplers. Also an accomplished bassist, teacher, storyteller and general affable chap.
His successful solo tour of the United States in late 2000 (leading up to his headlining the Strange Daze 2000 SpaceRock Festival) was followed by him teaming up with Mr. Quimby's Beard for their 2001 US Tour. Since then he has been working on new material while doing the few odd English gigs, both solo and with Simon House, and appearing on bills with Alan Davey's "Bedouin".
Warm and friendly, Harvey is a true free spirit and a gentle man. He will escort you down some of the less traveled corridors of your mind with his thought provoking lyrics as he keeps your face smiling - and feet moving...
Now working on material for this year's performances and editing material for future releases, including rarities and collectors items.
Little known facts about Harvey Bainbridge (To be added whenever the fancy takes me...)
1. Once, Harvey and Martin Griffin were featured in a Hairdressing book, as examples of men with moustachios and long curly hair and their management thereof.....
2. On the occasion of my first ever gig when I was but a young teenager, we played a Halloween Party in the local church hall. All was going well until the local hoodlums turned up, broke into the rear of the hall, smashed up all the turnip lanterns and pelted us with the bits of broken turnip. The perpetrators were summarily bundled out of the back of the hall by the local constabulary.
3. Once, when stationed at an army base just outside Carlisle, the young Harvey and pals discovered a mound on the edge of the base. ..r inspection it appeared cave like, and the ideal place to make a den. Scouts were sent home in search of potatoes, and the friends made camp within the mound and lit a fire and made gritty chips.
Later, when the adults were sent out to find us, we were soundly told off as the "mound" turned out to be a munitions dump on the edge of the garrison. ..

Ah yes, We walked into the Jigsaw last night for a show,
to see our friends Quadrophonic Desperation, who were
the opener for the night, and I will say they brought it on
with a brilliant set last night. Right on Boys!
They were opening for Harvey Bainbridge, Ex-Hawkwind
I was introduced to the music of Hawkwind by a friend several years ago
since I am not a child of the sixties I did miss out on that Psychedelic era.
I did have the pleasure last night of meeting Harvey Bainbridge,
this tall wild white haired gentleman, laid back and genuine.
I do believe my favourite part of sitting in on this conversation
though was when a man asked what he was doing here at the Jigsaw.
His subtle reply was nothing more than "because I can", and with that I start
laughing he turns I stand to shake his hand and head back in. My exiting
comment was no more than "we do this because" , and he finished with "we love it".
I guess that is what compelled me to write this, we do this because we love
it.
For most musicians there will never be fame and fortune, but there will always
be music, the stage where you stand and those that will share your experience.
Harvey walked up on this stage.
While sitting outside he told me he was going to
make some noise and did he! The light show, the music, one man standing on a
stage... what an experience!
I looked a Phillip and said this must be like an acid
trip without the acid...They sat on the floor, stood and sat watching this man,
all ages. I can say I was glad to be there.
Music is not something stifled by age, race or gender - it is all about passion
derived in many forms. So all I can say is Blessings to you Harvey Bainbridge,
long may you rock!
