Man! I could go on and on! There's so much great music out there, and so many new things happening now that blow my mind. But I can definitely say early 80's punk and lots of jazz
Hey whats going down!
I'm a New York City based Guitar and Oud player. I studied jazz guitar at New School University with guys like Vic Juris and Dave Fiuczynski. While there I also had the great fortune of studying with percussionist Jamey Haddad who introduced me to middle eastern music. The last ten years I have spent playing tons of Oud learning from Simon and Najib Shaheen. I have played with all kinds of great musicians in NYC. Had a long stint playing guitar for the baroque opera "La Didone" produced by experimental theatre company the Wooster Group. Played oud with the middle eastern ensemble Anistar. I can be heard rocking out with The Cool and Deadly. Been working with a fun group of musicians in Sleepwalker's Parade. My own thing is more on the experimental side. I love looping my guitar and making it crash with reverb, warping pitches, adding filters to make it breathe,or gritty distortion that peels your face. Basically taking it as far out as I can. But I still have a blast playing a blues tune!
Ola Harvey, I finally put some songs up from my post punk era,
bit lo-fi, band rehearsals, only jammed first song twice but there up,
looking to collaborate again if anyone is interested, salut x
