This is going to be a story of a band, and how it came together, its ups and downs, its fall, and its rise.
Hasten started in 2003 with a guy named Ricky. He was a very good looking guy, also smart, funny, romantic. He played guitar. He was on a mission on finding a drummer. Ricky went to Ontario High School. He knew there was someone good enough to play for his band. But Who? Searching for a while, he met an amazing person. He was tall, cute, sweet and funny guy. His name was Mike. Mike played drums. Ricky asked Mike if he would be interested in playing drums for his band. Mike replied," i don't own a drum set though". Rick said,"it's cool dude, i have one at my house". So Mike agreed to try out for the band.
Later that day after school, Mike and Ricky met up in front of the school.They walked down to Ricky's house which was right down the street. Ricky opens his garage door and and walks inside. He shows Mike the drums set, and his guitar. Mike walks in and sits down and tells Ricky," i'm not that good dude, i'm gonna warn you". Ricky looking like he's gonna laugh, " dude just show me what you got". Ricky closes the garage door. Mike's heart starts to pound. Ricky plugs in his guitar to the amp, and begins to play. Mike not knowing what to do, starts to play a simple beat. They jam for a few hours. Mike says he needs to go home and do his homework. Ricky with the look on his face and thinking to himself, " you don't do homework".
Ricky says to Mike that he'll walk with him half way so they could talk about the band. Mike agrees. Ricky asks Mike what he thought. Mike responded, " dude that was awesome, i like where your going with it". Ricky asks, "so do you wanna join?". Mike with a big smile and happy as he could be, "Really?, that sounds good dude, yeah".
After a few practices, both Mike and Ricky decided it was time to find a bassist. Ricky said he knew of a guy that played bass and could sing. His name was Dominic. Ricky asked Dominic to come down and try out and Dominic said yes. After a few practices and one show, Mike and Ricky both thought he wasn't right for the band.
It was 2004, and Mike and Ricky were now had more knowledge with their instruments. They still didn't have a bassist. Finally Ricky met a kid named Luis. He was a good guy, he did swimming and water polo for his school. He could play bass. Luis tried out for the band, and he qualified. He has alot of excitement, and alot of courage. The band was ready to rock and play shows.
It finally was 2005. Mike, Ricky, and Luis would practice alot and alot each week. Finally they had 3 songs. Ricky said." how do you guys feel like recording?" Mike and Luis both responded, "Yeah lets do it" The band go to a guy named kevin for the recording. The guys do their best at recording. Finally the had a demo out. The three songs recorded where "Into", "Found It", and "Code Red". Hasten played many, many shows after that. But after a while, Mike and Ricky thought that Luis wasn't what they were looking for.
2006. Mike and Ricky finally met a guy named Johnny. Great guy, Ladies man. good bassist. They jammed and jammed and practiced alot. Played a few shows. A few months pass after the findings of Johnny, and Ricky thought it was time for a lead guitarist. With a show coming up, and looking for another guitarist, Hasten didn't know what to do. One day, Mike and Ricky were hanging out with a good friend named Fabian. Fabian Played Guitar. While they were hanging out Ricky mentioned the show and asked Fabian if he would play with us. Fabian said yes. Hasten and Fabian Played the show and Ricky asked Fabian if he would join the band. Fabian said yes.
2007, great year for Hasten. In 2007 the guys recorded another demo. With the songs, "Green Tender", "Scumbag", and "Random Dance Time". They played many shows. They played Ontario Battle of the Bands. They Won 2nd place. Later that day, Hasten was asked to play Battle of the Bands in Colton. They Greatly Accepted. They practiced and practiced for the upcoming Colton Battle of the Bands. It was the day of the show. They go on stage and played their hearts out. All the other bands were finished and they were ready to announce the winners. the spokesman" for third place.....' again"For Second....." By then everyone in the band lost hope for winning. and then finally the spokesman announces" and for first place, and the winner of the Colton Battle of the Bands..............Hasten". the band was very excited and happy. 2007 was a great year for the band.
2008, the fall of the band..After the battle of the bands and few shows after that, the band started the writing process again. for a few months the band was quiet, no shows, just writing. Finally the band was offered a show. The band accepted and started preparing for the show. Day of the show. Mike was not doing back-up screaming. They were practicing for the show. Mike got cold feet and mentioned the to guys he was to embarrassed to scream in front of people. They said it would be ok. During the practice no one was in the mood to play. After a group discussion the band called it quits. That was the send of Hasten.
May 2008. : ) good news. Mike and Ricky have talked and decided to start Hasten again. As of now the only original members are Mike and Ricky. They will keep everyone updated if another member of Hasten is back in or if there will be new members.
