About me: I really like Root Beer. No, I mean I REALLY like Root Beer. Good Root Beer, not crap. My order of preference (for regularly available brands) is Thomas Kemper, Henry Weinhard's, Stewarts, A&W, and finally Barqs (if nothing else is available). I also like black licorice candy, tea, and root. It's good to chew if you've an upset stomach. Non-clover honey is the best for sweetening tea and for peanut butter sandwiches, and since we're talking about vices, or I am, building should be mentioned. Putting things together is a passion of mine. I love looking at something I’ve created.
I want to learn as many languages as possible. Eventually, I’ll wind up on a heavily forested mountain somewhere because I’m drawn to the bright green glow of a mossy rain forest right after a big storm. I don't camp or travel as much as I want. If I have to live in a city, I’d choose a smaller city over a larger one for the way they offer the same amenities with the slower pace. I don't want to be on the beaten path if I can avoid it. I don't even want to be dependent on the power grid if I have the money for solar cells. In spite of my taste in cars, I would be happy if I never used another drop of oil.
Animals are vital for my well being. I like and wanted a dog, but somehow wound up with a stray cat. She’s very cool and is teaching me a lot.
I used to do maintenance for the Air Force, and have been to 13 countries and 26 states. I've never been south of the equator though and am dying to see Machu Picchu, Australia, and New Zealand. I'd even like to live overseas for a while again if the opportunity arises. I miss Europe.
“Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.”
Mark Twain
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
Mark Twain
"For too long we seem to have surrendered personal excellence and community value in the mere accumulation of material things. Our gross national product now is over 800 billion dollars a year, but that gross national product, if we judge the United States of America by that, that gross national product counts air pollution, and cigarette advertising, and ambulances to clear our highways of carnage. It counts special locks for our doors and the jails for people who break them. It counts the destruction of the redwoods and the loss of our natural wonder in chaotic squall. It counts Napalm, and it counts nuclear warheads, and armored cars for the police to fight the riots in our city. It counts Whitman's rifles and Speck's Knifes and the television programs which glorify violence in order to sell toys to our children. Yet, the gross national product does not allow for the health of our children, the quality of their education, or the joy of their play; it does not include the beauty of our poetry of the strength of our marriages, the intelligence of our public debate for the integrity of our public officials. It measures neither our wit nor our courage neither our wisdom nor our learning, neither our compassion nor our devotion to our country it measures everything in short except that which makes life worth while. And it can tell us everything about America except why we are proud that we are Americans."
Robert Kennedy

QUOTE OF THE WEEK "Sitting here in these chairs that I’m going to be proposing but in working with these governors who again on the front lines are forced to and it’s our privileged obligation to find solutions to the challenges facing our own states every day being held accountable, not being just one of many just casting votes or voting present every once in a while, we don’t get away with that. We have to balance budgets and we’re dealing with multibillion dollar budgets and tens of thousands of employees in our organizations." ~Sarah Palin....a child that was left behind.
My sentiments exactly.
Which I believe brings us to two short of the magic number.
"Conservatives need to do the math. We can’t be anti-Hispanic, anti-young person and anti many things and be surprised when we don’t win elections. "-- Jeb, who's smarter than his brother, but then again, so is Dax the cat.
