Hatchet Dawn is a unique entity within the modern heavy music scene, pumping out original groove metal with a touch of haunting graveyard class. Hatchet Dawn have created a charm of spooky, dark, yet convivial resonanc eranging in a diverse mix of styles within heavy rock, metal and alternative music genres to form a experience like none other.
With dark drone elements reminiscent of Down, Marilyn Manson or Rob Zombie, Hatchet Dawn draw you into their disquieting spooky horror influenced world before blowing you away with their chunky extreme rock riffs, infectious moody song writing and disturbingly catchy vocal hooks that belong in front of sold out stadiums around the world.
Hatchet Dawn’s music combine influences as diverse as Metallica to Alice in Chains to The Misfits creating a new perfectly formed sound all their own - a darkly monstrous creation of potential, far bigger than the sum of its parts. Hatchet Dawn have taken their dark sounding anthems to an aesthetic level showing a theatrical approach to live shows applying gothic/horror influenced face identities adding depth, themes and demeanor to an already monstrous hatchet attitude.
Determined to thrive and build a worldwide rabid fan base Hatchet Dawn as of January 2009 have released a debut EP titled Faith In Chaos which currently verges on selling an initial pressing of 500 copies within 8 months of its independent release in Australia, alongside launching a supporting music video clip for ‘The Serpent Order’. Despite the fact that merchandise is moving consistently, becoming an national touring band and supporting Marilyn Manson in October 2009 for 4 shows in Adelaide and Melbourne wining over 5,000+ capacity venues in Australia; Hatchet Dawn are on the brink of a dark new day in heavy music history…
Will you bare witness to this dark new dawn?
FAITH IN CHAOS REVIEWS
"Hatchet Dawn are an up and coming Melbourne band who have come up trumps with the release of the debut EP titled “Faith In Chaos.” Yes, it’s modern and the songs do have traces of the genres best, but after repeated listeners you will discover, as I did, that there is more a lot brewing beneath the heavy riffs then you first realised..."

"If you like metal, yeh mang this is pretty cool, heavy, slow, light, fast, no over the top wankyness. Push some genre borders without it sounding shit..."

Brian Fischer-Giffin - THE SOUND CELLAR
"Local Melbourne five-piece Hatchet Dawn have released their debut EP, Faith In Chaos, and it’s a lovely little piece of work. A blend of black metal riffs and horror rock sounds, the EP is strong and forceful, catching you up with its enthusiastic power, and yet interesting to listen to in a detached way also. Preferably at midnight… with a full moon… in a graveyard..."

I'm not sure. :( You guys were great at Manson on the 10th and 11th though. I wanted to go to the all ages gig you played in Dandenong in early October but I couldn't make it. *sigh*
FYI the interview with Howsie should be (if nothing changes) printed in the November 26 issue of Forte. With any luck it will be on shelves before you guys get to Warrnambool and I can deliver you a copy in person, if not you can always hit me up with postal details and I can send a few copies to you. =)
Once again a big thanks to Howsie for taking the time out to do the interview.
Have a great weekend ahead Hatchet Dawn! I thought you were supporting Manson on the 17th of Oct at the Brisbane Ent. Centre - see what a busy life does? lol! Hope all is well and will see you sometime in the future. Sending much Love, Peace & Respect to you from Michael.
