Tallahassee 1981, what a shit hole! I still don't know how we managed to form a hardcore band in the middle of such an isolated conservative town. Of course we didn't have the internet or any easy way to access much information regarding music. At first we didn't even have a punk scene, just each other and a handfull of records and tapes. We turned that into Hated Youth.
We travelled to other cities out of frustration with our own. There must be a scene around here somewhere?! That is how we ended up at the Star Garage in Gainesville back in '82. We heard about an event called the 'Slam Fest' happening there. We drove down and managed to get a slot to play. There were bands from all over Florida and one from New Orleans. That night we met like minded people from all over Florida. We would later go on to headline gigs and open for touring nationals such as Minor Threat, DRI, CH3, Necros and Negative Approach..
