The Hattiesburg Beer Club began meeting monthly in September of 2007.
If you love great beer, are a home brewer, interested in craft beer, or just wondering what craft beer is and how people can honestly compare it to fine wine, this is the group for you.
Each member brings at least a 4 pack of beer that isn't common to our area so that we can all get to sample it. We try to stick to a specific style each meeting, but whatever craft beer you find that isn't available in our area is welcome.
Join us the 2nd Sunday of each Month at the Keg and Barrel from 5pm-7pm.
THE MAY BEER TASTING IS SUNDAY, MAY 9th.....5-7PM @ MISSISSIPPI'S ONLY BREW PUB, THE KEG & BARREL.
The focus for May is Lambic, Gueuze, Wild Ale, Saison, Mead, Braggot, and Fruit beers. If you like fruit juice with a kick, sour beers, or beers with a hint of fruit, this is the meeting for you. Join us, become a friend of beer, become a friend of the Hattiesburg Beer Club.
SUPPORT "RAISE YOUR PINTS". IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS:
VISIT THE LINK ABOVE AND HELP LIFT THE BAN ON HIGH GRAVITY BEERS IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, PROMOTE SMALL BUSINESSES, HELP INCREASE REVENUE TO THE STATE, AND GIVE MISSISSIPPIANS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY MANY OF THE SAME BEERS THE REST OF THE NATION CAN ALREADY GET.
On December 5, 1933, the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified. The 21st Amendment repealed the 18th Amendment, making alcohol once again legal. The Keg and Barrel tapped their own beer on December 5, 2008 in recognition of the the end of Prohibition in the U.S. and making them the first brew pub in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Who I'd like to meet:
Home Brewers, Micro-brewers, Craft Brewers, Brewmeisters, Head brewers, beer admirers, beer friends, the beer adventureous
Alcaeus of Mytilene - Greek lyric poet who supposedly invented the Alcaic verse. (see below)
To be bowed by grief is folly;
Naught is gained by melancholy;
Better than the pain of thinking,
Is to steep the sense in drinking.
