A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CCIGHS.......
The Crawford County Illinois Ghost Hunters Society was founded in 2000, by Jason Snider. The CCIGHS website has been up and going since 2001. Jason has been investigating paranormal events for ten years. Many of the investigation team members of the CCIGHS, including team members Kim Wesley and Barb Legg, have over four years of paranormal research experience! Combined with investigations conducted before the CCIGHS was officially founded and the ones after, we have now conducted over 2000 paranormal investigations!
In 2002 the CCIGHS started giving haunted tours of places we found to contain the most paranormal activity. The tours introduce people to ghost hunting and the paranormal. We make the tours educational and allow everyone to use our equipment and interact in our investigations of the places we visit during the tours. The tours are usually held around Halloween. Many people have come on the tours as skeptics and left believers!
From the time period of 2003 to 2007, the CCIGHS has been on several local TV stations such as WEIU Charleston - WAND News - Decator, and been featured in several newpapers! The CCIGHS has made it into several books and magazines about ghosts and hauntings. For the last three years around Halloween time we have been guests on a local radio station out of Olney, Illinois 92.9 (FM) The Legend! We have been guest speakers at several conferences and meetings informing and educating the public about Ghost, Spirits, Hauntings, and other paranormal occurrences.
In 2006 the CCIGHS held and taught paranormal investigator classes at Palestine Illinois to help further educate the general public about paranormal research and the supernatural events that have mainstream scientists scratching their heads for an explanation!
OUR APPROACH TO INVESTIGATING PARANORMAL EVENTS AND WHERE THE CCIGHS INVESTIGATES......
We investigate anywhere in Illinois and parts of Indiana. Our investigations focus on the Crawford County area and surrounding counties. My team and I investigate cemeteries, houses, and any other place that might have the presence of paranormal activity. Some of the tools we use are: thermal scanners, EMF meters, motion detectors, tape recorders, night shot video cameras, digital audio recorders, wireless video camera systems, laptop computers, geiger counters, 35mm cameras, and digital cameras. We have recorded orbs, ecto mists, super charged orbs, and other paranormal anomalies on film and video. While at the same time having scientific evidence of something going on in the area from readings on our meters. We have also recorded voices of the dead on our tape recorder, also known as Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP). We operate in a special investigation team of four or seven, depending on the situation and location. While conducting the investigations my team and I follow a strict set of guide lines, rules, and protocol. We take a scientific approach to investigating the paranormal and DO NOT use ouija boards, conduct seances, or rely on psychics. Our goal is to provide evidence of life after death and other paranormal occurrences through, photography, audio recordings, video recordings, and data collected from our equipment. We are a serious and dedicated team of paranormal investigators and researchers and examine all natural explanations before determining that what we find is of paranormal origin.
Into the dark we walk facing the great unknown and our fears that lie within the shadows. The spirits whispering our names into the wind. Through the midnight hour we stand among those who have walked before us. The moon over head to help guide us on our journey. We are seekers of the truth and the truth shall be found.
