Warm spirals of synchronicity caused HAVEN to crash-land in Manchester via
St Just Cornwall . Quickly they found their feet and voices as well as a
devoted fan base following a joyous residency at the legendary Night and Day
Cafe. Soon after Radiate Records (Virgin) swooped down and asked them to
sign on the dotted line. The band immersed in sweet sonics at Clear Studios,
watched over and encouraged by the inspirational Johnny Marr. 2003 dawned
beautifully with the release of the timeless and exquisite Between the
Senses album hurling HAVEN into all corners of the planet where they were
repeatedly met with critical acclaim, wild applause and their fair share of
rock n roll misadventure.....
Next up, the band assembled at RAK studios to put down some strident second
album tracks with producer Dave Eringa. Soon after, a slight hiatus happened
in the Haven story when guitarist Nat Wason unfortunately suffered a severe
attack of Bells Palsy. It is an illness that often results in a slow
recovery so here, the band took some time out for Nat to get better.
A second episode of recording ensued with Johnny Marr and this coalesced
with the Eringa sessions to create the All for a Reason album .This second
collection of songs proved the band had an enduring capacity to create
breath-taking music. This album of intense romantic yearning coupled with a
pioneering sense of musicality provided a lucid, impressive second chapter
in the bands history.
People of Manchester – we’re playing the delightful, Moho Live on Thursday 21st May. Their will be jugglers, taxidermy, colouring in, advanced sock puppetry…In fairness probably just music – but we may pull a few shapes! So get down! X
