The Bites are a 3-piece band from Melbourne, Australia. The songs are the most important thing. They are short, sharp, state their point and then they stop. Rhythm and melody are equally crucial in The Bites.
The nucleus of The Bites are Kirsty and Rene. Other members have come and gone since the band started in 2001................
Their philosophy is one of maintaining true independence and complete artistic control over all aspects of their music..................
Kirsty had renounced her past as solo performer and indie-popster and René had been hankering for some music louder than his other band Bruna.
The Bites then set about putting out their first single ‘My Heart, Your Heart’ on their own Dusky Sounds label, packaged in hand-printed pink covers with red velvet hearts. Mmmm...sexy!..............................
The Bites recorded their debut album ‘White Lines And Runways’ with engineer Neil Thomason (Ricaine, Deer), whose direct, no-nonsense approach managed to capture the feel of the band’s live shows. It was released on W.Minc Records in 2003, to much critical acclaim......................
After some nifty line-up changes at the beginning of 2004, The Bites eventually found Simon Parker as drummer and The Bites’ sound continued to become even more melodic and heavier than before. This line-up recorded a single "I'm Not Coming Down", which was released in February 2005, again on Dusky Sounds.........................
Simon departed The Bites in June 2005.................who knows what the future holds..................................................................../////////////////////////

so, anyway, The Bites broke up on Saturday the 3rd 0f December, and played their very last show at The Tote in Collingwood with the amazing Batrider and Panel Of Judges
but it was ace because it was also be the launch of The Bites' final EP "this is a full stop."
It has 7 songs and 4 videos on it, and it's handprinted on black cardboard and and and....it's be a limited edition of 200 copies (!!!!) so you better snaffle up a copy!................................................................................

Hi, at last... Rare Shot Blue music video "MIDO AVENUE" up on youtube. 3 girls as Space Diffender VS Rare Shot Blue can they save space from Rare Shot Blue!!!? quite funny.
Fred Astereo has followed up on 2005’s warped masterpiece “I Love You” with another instalment of brilliant paeans to the lovelorn in the warm and often tragically funny new album “Don’t Break My Heart”. With his soothing deep-tenor vocals, and by applying ukulele and acoustic sounds to the more synthetic, the on-paper comparison would seem to be The Magnetic Fields, but the songs on "Don't Break My Heart" display a closer connection with artists like Jonathan Richman, Depeche Mode and Morrissey, or even Frank Ifield, Perry Como and Buddy Holly. FRed Astereo will be launching this sucker on july the 1st at the Toff in Town, Curtin House, Swanston st Melbourne. Early doors at 7pm with special guest, Rob Clarkson. you should probably come.
Thanx for the add guys. Be sure to come by and laugh, vomit and shake your head at what we write. In the end you'll appreciate the comfort of a strait jacket...
