Glad you made it home alright. Things are kinda nuts here trying to get back in the flow of things. Glad these trips only happen every once in a great while.

If you guys ever get to the west coast, we would love to see ya.
Glad I'm the Mom!

MAHALO for adding us! We're excited about our national debut on MTV Logo ***TODAY*** --> Press Release about it follows -- please go ahead and copy and send to any media/press -- thanks again -->

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Two Girls From Hawaii Took a Chance in Cali Five Years Ago; They Debut on National MTV Network, Logo, Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, 5:00 P.M. Pacific, With Repeat Showings To Follow

Redondo Beach, CA, Jan. 25, 2007 -  MAKENA (pronounced mah-keh-nah) is the acoustic partnership of two girls born and raised in Hawaii who took a chance on "the mainland" 5 years ago, and are now beginning to see it pay off.

A 90-minute concert documentary special titled "L.A. Women's Fest" premieres Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. Pacific, on Logo, the latest network from MTV.  MAKENA is one of its starring cast members.  Logo is available in 18 million homes across the USA.  This is MAKENA's national television debut after an arduous 5 years, and an eventful 2006.

Siena Lee and Toast Tajiri make up MAKENA.  With the sound of just two voices and one guitar, their homemade recordings and growing popularity caught the attention of Grammy-winning producer Daniel Ho (Best Hawaiian Album, 2006), who signed them to a deal with his award-winning label in mid-2006.  Their first album with Ho as producer is self-titled.  Having already acquired bookings on their own for two high-profile events set for late in the year, the record deal came at an opportune time.

In October '06, MAKENA joined a line-up of nine other female artists and comedians from across America and the world for "L.A. Women's Fest," filmed live on location at the Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood for the upcoming TV special.

In November came a featured slot as one of five acts from around the country in the year's Emerging Artist Showcase presented by Olivia, the nation's premier vacation company for women, onboard a ten-day Olivia cruise of the Hawaiian Islands.

And now, with the premiere on January 25th, MAKENA is looking forward to their national TV debut.  "L.A. Women's Fest" will be re-broadcast a number of times.  The next airing has already been announced for Wed., Feb. 7, 5:00 p.m. Pacific.  MAKENA hasn't seen the show yet, but they're hoping one of their original songs, "Good Enough," makes it to the air and in front of a national audience.

MAKENA means "abundance" in Hawaiian, and it's the reason Siena and Toast chose it as their name.  Nurturing an outlook and energy that is optimistic, yet realistic, compassionate and respectful of humanity's collective deeper wisdom is their main hallmark in both music and on their podcast.

MAKENAmusic.com The Podcast, is where Siena and Toast have fun talking about their experiences and lessons learned as indie music artists, helping animals, being Asian-American or from Hawaii, and the occasional rant or amusing observation on social/cultural issues.  Their song "Good Enough" bookends almost every podcast episode, in the form of a guitar playing the song's main instrumental motif.

Concerts4Cats is MAKENA's labor of love helping abandoned adult cats in need of medical care.  MAKENA is sponsored by Sam Ash Music.  Siena and Toast focus on gentle harmonies in their music and relationship.  Visit them at www.MAKENAmusic.com.
