Sometimes the most frightening demons are those inside the human mind...
That is the premise behind Hayward Sanitarium. This audio series is set at a small sanitarium in New England. This sanitarium is a research facility to learn about so-called "supernatural phenomena" by studying those who have been been driven insane by their encounters with such phenomena. A team of dedicated psychiatrists and scientists try to discover if the supernatural is real, or simply a product of the human imagination.
Dr. Richard Atwater arrives for his first day at Hayward Sanitarium. Very soon he begins to suspect that something is wrong. Horribly wrong. And he has to try to find out what it is. Unwittingly, he starts down a long, dark path -- from which he may be unable to escape.
This series was recorded on location with a stereo microphone in order to create an intense, realistic sound which serves to heighten the question of the reality of the phenomena under investigation.
