DJ Handspeak and DJ Mazeone combine 25 years of experience in the art of DJing, remixing, and production. The two self-proclaimed “Turntablists” are currently on a mission to promote the DJ as the focus of the party rather then pushed to the back of the room. By using analog instruments (real turntables) along with the latest technology, and an extensive record collection, they have been known to have large crowds gravitating to the DJ booth. Their ability to use break beats, soul/funk, deep house, carribean, classic hip-hop, and afro-latin rhythms leaves their listeners in amazement of how they can transition from one genre to the next without stopping the music! According to the Usual Build DJ’s, their goal each time they spin is to make people move even without playing the music that is heard non-stop on the radio. “We want total control of the audience and or party every time we have a chance to entertain”, says DJ Mazeone. “We want people to leave our events with an experience that will take them long to forget”, explained DJ Handspeak.
DJ Handspeak began his DJ career in the mid 80’s rocking as a local house party DJ and different school events along with his crew in Japan. After making his transition to the U.S. in the early 90’s he quickly took his DJ skills to the next level by mastering music production. Handspeak, along with his twin brother DJ Fysix went on to produce several independent Hip-Hop records and a few remix projects as well. Handspeak has earned credit as a co-owner of an independent record label “HeadBang Theory Records” and also as executive producer for the critically acclaimed “Spade’s Legacy: The Struggle Continues…” project.
Over the past 15 years DJ Mazeone has entertained music lovers on both U.S. and international soil. He is mostly known as a tastemaker for fresh new independent hip-hop music and also for his impressive collection of vintage Caribbean and Latin music. After taking a detour from the music scene to focus his career with a leading Fortune 100 corporation he recently began re-injecting the Maze One brand back to the public. As an active participant in the emerging subculture known to few as “Turntablism” he plans to promote the art form every opportunity he can. DJ Mazeone places emphasis on using the “Turntables” as an instrument that is actually being played rather than an appliance. A major goal of Mazeone is to tour internationally with a live jazz band in order to combine the science of Turntablism with the greatest American art form ever created (Jazz).
FINALLY: Since the "SPADE's Legacy" album is no longer available, we've decided to simply offer some of the key tracks off of that project as downloads. For all you that have been inquiring about the pressing of additional copies of the original album release, that may come in time as requests have piled up a bit too high to ignore...We'll see. For now, download the joints you like. Enjoy!
