    Chris's Interests
GeneralPhotography - since I went digital, I've become a lot more interested in photography. And my Flickr habit is getting a bit out of hand.

I play music as well as listening to it. My main instrument is electric bass, but I also play keyboards, Chapman Stick and electric guitar. Musical influences range from Jaco P, Geddy Lee, Mark King and Tony Levin to - well, just about anything I hear, really...

Home cinema. I want my DVDs!

Drawing - I don't do as much as I used to. But there again, I don't seem to have as much spare time as I used to.

Birdwatching: I've been in the RSPB for nearly 30 years.

Mountain biking - trying to keep fit.

Skiing - why I'm trying to keep fit.

Cookery - I'm pretty good, but it doesn't help the last two hobbies much.

MusicThe first album I bought was "Pictures at an Exhibition" by ELP. I was twelve.

A brief sample:

BooksYou should see my house. There are rather a lot of books in it.

There are books on every available flat surface, in fact.

Including the top of the lavatory cistern.

Currently working my way through the writings of Charles Stross, but all will be put aside when I get my hands on William Gibson's new novel, Spook Country. I hang out on the WGB as Chris H.

Chris is just some guy, you know?
Who I'd like to meet:
People into the same sorts of things I am. Yeah, I know, that's what everyone says, but I've seen that eyes-glazing-over look from time to time! So, the big question is: do you like the stuff I like?

Hi Chris.

Hope you'll forgive me for doing a bit of shameless merchandising.

The new CD is out ... definitely not your father's organ trio! CD Baby's got it - samples, links & downloads on my Myspace page.

Regards,

Pete

Thanks for the Add. Has anyone told you about the Baltimore Tap Guitar Seminar from October 17 to 20? I know it's a long trip, but I know from experience that interacting face to face with other players makes a tremendous difference when you’re playing a new instrument like ours. It would be good to meet you, and you would learn some stuff that could open some new horizons. I'll be teaching Microtonal ornaments, trills, and Indian rhythms and scales. Other teachers will be Jim Wright, Brian Kenney Fresno, and Randy Strom. On October 20th, there will be a concert featuring all of us, along with 8 string guitarist Bill Burke, and Trey Gunn (the other stick player from King Crimson, as you probably know). To register and for more information, go to: http://baltimoretapguitarseminar2007.googlepages.com/home

A bit of shameless merchandising:

That's my new CD, "Deacon Blues", the straight ahead organ trio I've been wanting to do for years. It's getting great reviews and lots of radio play - and it's only Jazz; Go figure! The CD features some good friends, including two of my favorite guitarists, Mike DeMicco and the phenomenal Joe Beck. Danny Gottlieb lays down the groove with my brother Tony guesting on bass for a couple of tracks.

The CD is available on line at AMAZON.COM or at WOODSTOCK CD where they also have artist-signed copies in stock. (arguably making them worth less!)

Thanks for letting me do this. Best wishes,

Pete
