Edition of 500 copies LP with screenprinted sleeves, this is the first solo vinyl release by Paul Labrecque of Sunburned Hand Of The Man and it feels like the long-awaited follow-up to the classic album he cut with Valerie Webb, Trees, Chants and Hollers on Eclipse.___ It's a mix of psychedelic banjo hymns - some of which are cut up with glorious widescreen field recordings of thunder cracking and rain pouring down - and ancient sounding guitar instrumentals that would build a bridge between Sandy Bull's settings of sacred music and the most ecstatic Popol Vuh recordings.___ A ton of atmosphere on this and it beats hands-down virtually any 'American primitive' solo guitar release of the last too many years.___ This is solo string thought that genuinely bears comparison with the Takoma sound - historically, aesthetically, sonically - while sounding nothing like the work of a 'pupil' and factoring in a bunch of wildcard styles, ranging from monolithic European rock through apocalyptic UK space/folk and drugged 90s underground.___ A totally fantastic late night transport, a modern classic, highly recommended.______________________________________________________________

september 2008 release ; solo guitar & banjo tapestries from sunburned’s paul labrecque ...
aside from the right-hand clawhammer motorik (which he’s got in spades), my favorite moments are when he dials it back a little for some bedroom-guitar extrapolation (some of the mellow, snaking lines bring me back to the first time i heard träd gräs och stenar) ...
amazing it’s taken him this long to commit these bits to tape ; the whole thing has a kind of late-night / early-dawn devotional kind of feel to it, with flashes of nashville / memphis phrasing (think sandy bull, or even the more guitar-centric bits florian fricke did for herzog) that, frankly, sound really damn good ...
ecstatic peace! press release...________________________________________________

Taping Policies is excited to be working on a new project of The Skaters. While I'm not directing a new skateboarding video, I am however trying to work out a video of the memorable performance Spencer Clark and James Ferraro did as The Skaters at Logement in Antwerp last year.
The Skaters say that the substance of their music is defined by the interplay of ideas and the transformation of themselves into characters while playing and while living and using the inner dialogue that comes with cognizing the symbols of the outside world as a ground for the music to stand.
While the backbone for the video will be the footage I shot at logement, I still need your help to make the video into the substance it should be. I'm looking for footage that's either personal weird funny or just random stuff that could easily fit the mood of their music. If you have unused footage of that secret temple searching trip to Mexico, you have a way of documenting your obsession with dead birds or maybe simply some video of your girlfriend tanning at the beach, just send it in by contacting jef@tapingpolicies.be
Footage send in, should be in .avi or mpeg format in either ntsc or pal. With www.largefilesasap.com you have the abbility to send up to 2GB for free. Also note that all material submitted is exposed to change from the original. Contributors to the video will get an exclusive preview/trailer of the video in Quicktime format.
