Headphone Treats's Blurbs |
About me:
Headphone Treats is a little indie pop/indie rock record label founded by producer, engineer and recording artist Jimmy Ether. The label is focused on experimental and eclectic pop/rock with infectious melody and lyrical depth.
Have you ever bought a record by a band you'd never heard just because they were on a particular label? We strive to be that kind of label... one that you can trust for a certain aesthetic, artistic honesty and high level of quality.
Visit Headphone Treats for more info and be sure to check out our artists' respective websites and MySpace profiles:

AMIE STREET
We love the heck out of AmieStreet.com. So much so that you can download digital versions of most of our albums at AmieStreet for just a couple of bucks! See the links and players below. And Hey, check it out... AmieStreet Coupons! When you sign up, use the coupon codes hotbithcarsenal or hotbitcharsenal. They give you $5 credit and 4 "recommendations" (which help to promote the artists and boost your own "street cred"). If those don't work for some reason, try livemusic or forteller. You don't get as much with those, but I know they were also working earlier.
Sign Up with AmieStreet!
CDBaby and Amazon
For those of you who like physical things to hold, caress, and love you can get our CDs from both CDBaby and Amazon. See the respective links below!
NEW! EARLY RELEASE
The Ether Family Presents... - ...and vice versa
[Download from AMIESTREET]
Get the latest 11-song gem from The Ether Family Presents... before it's even PRESSED! How's that for instant gratification??! The Ethers knocked this record out all in the month of February for the RPM Challenge. Never ever double-dog dare them, because they can't pass up a dare!
The Campbell Apartment - Insomniac's Almanac
[Download from AMIESTREET]
[Buy from AMAZON]

Oh my lord... the catchy pop. It just doesn't stop with these guys. They pop harder than humanly possible -- the Orville Redenbachers of the NYC music scene if you will.
Oldman Winter - An ARTic Winter
[Download from AMIESTREET]
[Buy from AMAZON]
[Buy from Emusic]

Toss Paul Westerberg, Eric Bachmann and Jason Lytle into a blender with some ice and bacardi... yuuuuuuum! (Disclosure: Always consume Oldman Winter responsibly)
The Nerd Parade - A Delicate Bashing
[Download from AMIESTREET]
[Buy from AMAZON]
[Buy from Emusic]

Get the debut release from The Nerd Parade entitled A Delicate Bashing. Seriously, buy this. Now. If I could marry a band, I'd marry, well... The Cardigans, because that singer is hot... but I'd totally cheat on her with The Nerd Parade!
Cassavetes - Funny Story
[Download from AMIESTREET]
[Buy from AMAZON]
[Buy from Emusic]

If you like your indie-rock, dark and cerebral with just enough pop hooks to keep your ass wigglin', you'll love this record. 4 out of 5 hipsters can't be wrong! Can they?? Seriously... I was informed they couldn't be.
Adam McIntyre - Per Ardua
[Download from AMIESTREET]
[Buy from AMAZON]
[Buy from Emusic]

Dark, indie-fused powerpop?? Is that even possible?? Yep. Adam has somehow managed to marry dark, introspective lyrics and primal scream therapy with guitar-laden hooks and catchy ditties that are all down with the bouncy-bouncy. Wait, that wasn't double entendre. I don't think.
The Ether Family Presents... - How To Get Lost In A Time Consuming Ego Trip (Part 1 of 4)
[Download from AMIESTREET]
[Buy from AMAZON]
[Buy from Emusic]

The greatest band ever to don the Ether surname! This 20-song rocker, the first in a completely looney 80-song 4-album series, will curl you up into a safe, warm, human ball one minute and smack you into next week with a cricket bat the next. It's fun, we promise.
Adam McIntyre - Nothing Means Anything
[Download from AMIESTREET]
[Buy from AMAZON]
[Buy from Emusic]

All I gotta say is... if a man wanna to sing about love... then DAMNIT, LET A MAN SING ABOUT LOVE! Can I get a witness!?? Bless his John Cusack looking little soul.
The Ether Family Presents... - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
[Download from AMIESTREET]
[Buy from AMAZON]
[Buy from Emusic]

So, this one time, I holed myself up in a haunted old chapel studio for three months with nothing to eat and drink but Doc Chey's noodles and Mountain Dew. NOT recommended, but makes for a great batch of love-lorn indie ROCK. Notice how I capitalized "ROCK"? Clever huh? Does anybody even read these things??
Adam McIntyre - Rockstars & Superheroes
[Download from AMIESTREET]
[Buy from AMAZON]
[Buy from Emusic]

The tale of a boy who got his first real six-string at the five and dime and played it 'till his fingers bled. Which was like on the third chord. Then he went to the hospital, 'cause, WTF you know? Fingers shouldn't bleed that easily. He must have some sort of condition. Scary stuff!
The Ether Family Presents... - Tools For Men Who Want To Succeed
[Download from AMIESTREET]

Has anybody seen my vinyl copy of that Grifters album? I know it was here last night. Man, who took it? That's the last time I let you hang out in my basement. Stupid jerks.

Who I'd like to meet:
Hey, if you really want to get in touch with me:
Shoot an email to info {at} headphonetreats {dot} com. I just get so much damn spam in this message box (just deleted 27 pages of it!) that I have to just indiscriminately delete-all. You likely will never get a comment approved for the same reason.
You can also find me on Facebook if that's your bag.
Attention Bands and Artists
Headphone Treats is currently looking to expand its roster. Please please please check out our music interests and listen to clips from the bands on our current roster at our website before contacting us. Basically, anything firmly rooted in pop melody with intelligent lyrics that we find interesting is fair game.
To get in touch with us, shoot us a message and take the time to tell us about what you are doing and what you want from a label. Quick little "hey, check us out" messages don't get much attention out of the 100 or so messages we get every week. Make a little effort and show you care about what we are trying to do and are of a similar mindset.
COMMENTING PURELY TO PROMOTE YOUR BAND/SHOW/PROFILE/COMMUNITY IS BAD FORM. Unless it is related to artists on our roster or the direct result of us contacting you with a friend request, don't bother. It will be deleted. But, if you just want to say hello or comment with something funny... please do. We like the funny.
PodCasters
We are HUGE supporters of PodCasting. If you are doing a PodCast and want to use the music of any of our artists, please feel free. All we ask is that you tell us what you are using, and send us the info on your cast so we can link to you.
There are downloads available in our Music section on the Headphone Treats website, and you can also preview any track on any album using our streaming jukebox. If you hear something you would like to use and it's not available for free download, shoot us a message and we'll temporarily post it for you.
Press and Radio
If you want to be added to our promo distribution, send us a message and tell us a little about your publication or station. We especially love you if you want to interview our artists or write feature articles for your 'zine. We'll shine your sneakers for that.
And we want to meet fans of good music of course! Add us and let us know what you think.
