When you see Healer Selecta’s smiling face as he spins everything from ultra-rare soul to snarling garage-rock to tough afro and latino beat, you’ll know why he’s called Healer Selecta. DJ Healer Selecta has been described by Mojo magazine and Time Out as " Healer Selecta has made London swing again, hero with a record box" ... Well they weren't wrong, I'm usually not a fan of DJs, but when the DJ can mix like Healer Selecta and play some fantastic guitar riffs to his own mixes and dance away to himself at the same time .... then he has my vote. Anyway, any man that uses his forehead to head-butt the tubes of his valve amp and punctuate his already impressive guitar work, is obviously a man to watch! I've also rarely seen one of those smug dance DJs hold one record in his mouth while he selects another wild stomping track, all the while mixing like a mad-jazz monkey on amphetamines. I take my hat off to you DJ Healer Selecta sir!

HEALER SELECTA, is Mister RAISON D'ETRE, a Guitarman, Disc Jockey, Composer, Record Producer, Cinema Music Surpervisor, Arranger, Records collector, Music Consultant, Promoter- Show Producer. Record Dealer, Talent spoter/booker...
Yvan started young. At the age of 10 his father, cross that Yvan was
listening to music rather than doing his schoolwork, broke all his records. Such a
traumatic experience tightened his resolve to dedicate his life to them. A year
later he was running his own radio show in his home town,
digging the rebellious sounds of Gene Vincent and Bo Diddley and learning to
play guitar over 45s by Link Wray, Magic Sam and Dick Dale.
By 18 he was putting on parties in the catacombs, squaring up to the local police and grooving to whatever hidden gems he dug out of the record boxes of depot vents across Europe and US. By 19 Yvan was running Rockabilly-Psychobilly- Blues- Soul -Garage Punk & Surf shows, (Gene Vincents Blue Caps, All Crypt records artists, Rudy Tutti Grayzell and many other Rockabilly legends) He was also the first one to bring ROBERT BELFOUR the legendary Memphis Bluesman in Europe back in 1994.
It was at London's and Las Vegas legendary late 90s rocknroll-Burlesque night The Frat Shack at the 333 in Shoreditch and The Las Vegas Grind Festival in Vegas, where Yvan was a resident DJ when he discovered the power that being free can have. Having played guitar in rock'n'roll & surf bands, The Blue Devils, Showman & The
Thunderous Staccatos and The Sidekick, Yvan was firmly entrenched in the live rocking scene, but his musical tastes had always been broad. So he spun garage rock back to back with Soul, Rocksteady,Surf, Rockabilly, Afrobeat, Wild Samba and Rhythm & Blues, Latin Boogaloo,, Surf, etc... The purist scenesters were confused but the music lovers went wild. The way forward was clear from then on.

The official "Godmothers" of Healer Selecta's parties and Raison D'Etre Collective are SPANKY WILSON the 60's Soul Diva Queen and WANDA JACKSON the Rock N Roll Hall Of fame. The "Godfather" was Rhythm & Blues Icon BO DIDDLEY(RIP), the greatest and most influential Rock & Roll KING of all time.

As a guitarist/musian, my influences comes from Mickey Baker, Cliff Gallup, Merle Travis, Bo Diddley, Link Wray, Paul Peek, Johnny Ramones, Lightin' Hopkins, Wes Montgomery, Travis Wammack, Dick Dale, Doctor Ross, Chuck Berry, Paul Burlinson, Ronnie Dawson, Steve Cropper, Phelps "Catfish" Collins, The Sonics, Louisiana Red, The Trashmen, Al Casey, Joe Clay, Fela Kuti, Bobby Matos and tones of others....
I collect also Ethnic music, I dig all different kind and genre of great soulful music from all over the world, vintage or new as long as it's gave me a thrill. I guess those influences are strong on my djing attitude and selection .
I love music, people, parties and venues with a proper sound system!

i am a fan of Ravel, Arthur Lyman and Ken Nelson who produced the most beautiful rocknroll album ever with Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps in 56.
