HEALTH CARE IS A HUMAN RIGHT's Blurbs
About me:
I'd like to focus on a single issue - asserting into modern day American culture that Health Care is a Human Right and not a money-based issue.

Health Care is a Human Right that should be a Constitutional, Legal right in America.
Who I'd like to meet:
Others who are interested in helping Americans - and others in need throughout the world - in finding affordable Health Care as well as changing the political climate in America to favor Free/Single Payer/Universal Health Care that includes preventative medicine and affordable pricings for treatments and cures.

No Human should be denied medicine or treatment because of monetary reasons, especially when there is so much scientific, technological, and medical wealth to go around.

A strong Republic starts with a healthy citizenry!

Have a glorious birthday! In this year, you will be able to say that you helped the network of efficiency, accountability and innovation expand to fill the world, and that its result was a natural peace.

We've now had 5 years of lies about 9/11, WMD's, and freedom. The real reasons were oil, profiteering, and fascism. Not just Bush, but the news media, most of congress, and all who remain silent. And now they'll use fear to quash dissent. It's nothing new -- it's been going on for ages. War, poverty, ecocide, arrogant bullying --they're all from greed and fear, which come from ignorance. ♥ But it's not too late -- we can still learn to make peace. Talk with people. Love, Eric

Health Care for U.S. Kids Falls Short
A new study reveals surprising statistics concerning the quality of medical care for children. The shocker: Most of those studied had insurance

by Catherine Arnst

More evidence that the U.S. health-care system is far from stellar: It seems that even white, middle-class, well-insured children get poor quality health care more often than not. A large study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that American children receive recommended health-care procedures only 46% of the time when they see a doctor. In fact, children get even worse care than adults, who receive appropriate care about half the time, according to a similar survey published in 2003.

"Taken together, these studies show that no one, anywhere, is immune from poor quality of care [in the U.S.]," says lead researcher Rita Mangione-Smith of Seattle Children's Hospital Research Institute.

The researchers, from the Rand Corp. and University of Washington as well as Seattle Children's, reviewed the medical records of 1,536 children from 12 metropolitan areas around the country and assessed 175 measures of quality in 12 clinical areas. They found that children in the U.S. do not routinely receive regular weight and measurement checks, widely recommended screening tests, or standard care for asthma and diarrhea. "As a pediatrician, I was shocked by some of our findings," says Mangione-Smith. "I rescreened several of the charts because I couldn't believe the results we were getting."

The children in the study were predominantly from white, middle- or upper-middle-class families; 82% were covered by private insurance. Children without insurance likely fare far worse, the researchers noted.
Insurance Is No Guarantee of Proper Care

The study, published in the Oct. 11 issue of the journal, comes a week after President Bush vetoed a bill that would have expanded the State Children's Health Insurance

$500 Sore Throat and Why I Am Not Getting a New Computer
by A Flabbergasted Medical Consumer.

Beware if you are not on Medical or have Premium Medical Insurance before going to the Loma Linda University Urgent Care Center.

I carry my own health insurance that I pay out of my pocket almost $500 a month. That is because I am "Adjunct Faculty" at several colleges. Adjunct means you get paid less than full time for the same work that full time faculty and you don't get benefits such as health insurance. College administrators love adjunct faculty because it keeps their costs down. That is another issue.

If you don't have great health insurance you should be aware that some medical centers and clinics are going to sock it to you.

Recently I had an experience where I went to the Loma Linda University Medical Center Urgent Care Center. I have gone to several Urgent Care centers in the past and usually paid around $40 to see a doctor plus any charges for specialized tests. So I thought it would cost about the same this time.

I went to the "Urgent Care" Center for a sore throat. I was placed in a chair and saw the Doctor for a couple of minutes. He recommended a couple of tests. Two were blood tests that were done immediately and due to the nature of the test, results were immediate. A nurse performed these. The other was a throat culture that I had to call the lab in a few days to get the results. The doctor said to rest and drink juice. The doctor and nurse were very professional. I would be treated by them again without any problem.'

What I do have a problem with is how they billed me for this visit.

I was told that the Loma Linda University Urgent Care Center was covered as a preferred provider of my Blue Cross PPO insurance. I paid an up front charge of $40 to be seen. I asked the woman at the check in desk about what it normally costs to be seen. The front desk person made some vague statements that th

Pentagon ‘three-day blitz’ plan for Iran
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article2369001.ece
THE Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive air strikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, designed to annihilate the Iranians’ military capability in three days, according to a national security expert.
Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center, said last week that US military planners were not preparing for “pinprick strikes” against Iran’s nuclear facilities. “They’re about taking out the entire Iranian military,” he said.
Debat was speaking at a meeting organized by The National Interest, a conservative foreign policy journal. He told The Sunday Times that the US military had concluded: “Whether you go for pinprick strikes or all-out military action, the reaction from the Iranians will be the same.” It was, he added, a “very legitimate strategic calculus”.
President George Bush intensified the rhetoric against Iran last week, accusing Tehran of putting the Middle East “under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust”. He warned that the US and its allies would confront Iran “before it is too late”.
