Heal the Bay's marine education facility, the Santa Monica Pier
Aquarium, provides a unique curriculum dedicated to pollution
prevention, marine conservation, and environmental education. The
Aquarium is located on the historic Santa Monica Pier adjacent to the
Pacific Ocean. It is a premier field trip destination for school
groups and an educational resource for the entire Los Angeles area. At
just under 5,000 square feet, the Aquarium provides a hands-on
educational experience for school groups and the community at large
through its interactive exhibits and touch tanks.
Volunteering at the Aquarium is a great opportunity for individuals to
make a difference by teaching students and visitors about marine life
and their role as stewards of the ocean. Volunteers of all ages will
find many rewards in their volunteer service, such as gaining
experience for a resume, contributing to vital community education,
and making good friends. To volunteer at the Santa Monica Pier
Aquarium, you must be at least 15 years of age.
For more information about volunteering and interning at the Aquarium,
please visit our website at www.healthebay.org/smpa. If you have any
questions, feel free to contact our volunteer coordinator, at
310-393-6149 x114. We look forward to meeting you!
