We are leading the campaign to make Washington the Healthiest State in the Nation!!
Washington is currently ranked 10th according to an extensive study just released by the Washington Health Foundation(up 4 spots from 2006!). Rankings are based on a number of factors – from healthy living (nutrition, physical activity, etc.) to healthy systems (public health funding, insuring for prevention, etc.).
In an effort to raise Washington's ranking, the Washington Health Foundation hosts a marquee annual event called The Governor’s Health Bowl. You can read about it on our website, www.HealthiestState.org, but in short – it starts on September 18 and runs for six weeks. During the 2007 Governor's Health Bowl, we shattered the old state record by generating more than 5,000,000 miles of health! That's equivalent to ten round trips....to the MOON!!!
Our Healthiest State in the Nation Campaign now boasts more than 35,000 individuals, 1,000 organizations and more than 400 schools making it the largest civic engagement project for health in state history.
