However, integration of personalities is not always possible. In these situations, the goal is to achieve a harmonious interaction among the personalities that allows more normal functioning. Drug therapy can relieve some specific coexisting symptoms, such as anxiety or depression, but does not affect the disorder itself. Psychological Tests: These Psychological Tests are merely tools for individuals to identify possible mental health issues that they maybe having. These tests are not meant to replace the advice or diagnosis of psychological professionals There are no online psychological tests this week for our theme.

September 1: Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a dissociative disorder involving a disturbance of identity in which two or more separate and distinct personality states (or identities) control the individual's behavior at different times. When under the control of one identity, the person is usually unable to remember some of the events that occurred while other personalities were in control. The different identities, referred to as alters, may exhibit differences in speech, mannerisms, attitudes, thoughts, and gender orientation. The alters may even differ in "physical" properties such as allergies, right-or-left handedness, or the need for eyeglass prescriptions. These differences between alters are often quite striking. The person with DID may have as few as two alters, or as many as 100. The average number of alters is about 10. Often alters are stable over time, continuing to play specific roles in the person's life for years. Some alters may harbor aggressive tendencies, directed toward individuals in the person's environment, or toward other alters within the person. Once considered rare and mysterious psychiatric curiosities, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) (previously known as Multiple Personality Disorder-MPD) and other Dissociative Disorders are now understood to be fairly common effects of severe trauma in early childhood, most typically extreme, repeated physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse.

Half working, half dancing - that is the right mixture. I myself have danced and played too little." One of her greatest wishes was to build a Hospice" for infants and children infected with AIDS, to give them a last home where they could live until their passing. In 1985 she attempted to do this in VA but local residents feared the possibility of infection and blocked the necessary re-zoning. In 1994, she lost her house and possessions to an arson fire that is suspected to have been set by opponents of her work. She conducted many workshops in all parts of the world. Her extensive work with the dying led to the book "On Death and Dying" in 1969. In this work she proposed the now famous Five Stages of Dying. These five stages are: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance.
