"A very refreshing sound...their material is well thought out and poignant. Clever lyrics, clever melodies, and a great stage presence; this band is a must see." -Modesto View
With roots that extend downward into rich musical soil, Colour is growing quickly and ripe for bloom. From the small town of Lynchburg, VA, vocalist/instrumentalist Melissa Dalrymple began writing and performing at a very young age. When she met her now husband Tim Dalrymple (drummer/producer) while traveling and playing music together, they connected in a very special way, and the result was a marriage of both person and musical ingenuity. They relocated to Modesto, California in 2005, and were joined by Logan Coats (electric guitar) and Kris Luis (bass guitar), and at that time they came to be known as Colour. By performing consistently the last year, they have developed an incredibly loyal community and fan base, and with the release of their first album, The Grey EP, Colour is looking toward the future with great anticipation.
Whether in the haunting slide guitar in "Those Things That Mean So Much", the call and answer refrain of the guitar and piano above the thick layers of "Winter", the driving strings in "Upsidedown", or the warm textures of organ and banjo in "Love", The Grey EP presents a rich musical landscape that tells the emotive story of the lyric. Melissa's voice has been notably compared to Sarah McLachlan, Leigh Nash, and Karin Bergquist, and it floats, soulfully and effortlessly, along the album’s diverse musical currents. Dark and moody, it is the first of 4 EPs the band plans to release over the next 18 months. The next one is due sometime early this fall.

I liked hearing your show Friday night at the Red Rock. Fun to luxuriate in the weaving together of the contrasting elements, eg. the hard-edged guitar and sensuous vocals. Each band member adds their perfect element to the mix. Wonderful ensemble work!
