Thomas Hughes, founder of Declaration, was born into a family with a rich heritage in classical music and became an accomplished pianist and highly ranked cellist at a young age. In his college years, his father, a professional operatic voice teacher, guided Thomas when he decided to embrace a more personal expression through vocal performance.
Inevitably, Thomas' passion for composition, fueled by a reverence of the great classical composers, collided with a fascination with technology, causing him to abandon his classical music pursuits and instead embrace a unique electronic expression in Declaration, a means also by which he glorifies the Giver of his talents.
In the 1990s, Declaration's initial studio recordings received substantial radio airplay in Southern Europe.
Declaration's first CD, "Divine Design", was released in 2003 and garnered much attention in the Synthpop Underground. The CD was by far the most requested and played album on Flashback Alternatives radio in 2003. Additionally, one of the tracks ("When Push Comes to Shove") proved to be one of the most popular downloaded synthpop tracks in recent memory.
The 2008 release, "Expectation" is now available and has already received rave reviews. Check out this blog for more, and remember, "Things can be so good"! (TM)
