Restless drums, ringing chords and a steady slacker bass are some of the key elements of the Danish noise pop trio Heartbreak Disco, situated in Copenhagen, Denmark. Heartbreak Disco fuses melancholy lyrics with unsophisticated rock energy and tight arrangements. The band was formed in 2002 by vocalist and guitarist Troels Mynster and drummer Kim Vestergaard, and has since released series of EP’s and the well-received debut album “Photograph of You, Me and the Plague” from 2005. In the fall of 2006 bass player Mikkel Paaske joined the group, and the three have searched to redefine the sound of the band - the result of which can be heard on the new EP “Heartbreak Summer Camp” from 2007. The EP opens with the laidback and bittersweet single “Canada” and closes with the energetic and catchy “Tomorrow”, which places the group somewhere between the British shoegazer scene and the alternative American rock tradition.
