Band MembersFor "The Szabo Songbook": Marcy Emery- vocals, guitar, synthesizer Mark Kleiner- guitar, keys, vocals, melodica Steven Balogh- bass Pete Bourne- drums, percussion, rock guitar Dan Bejar- vocals Corrina Hammond- bass, drum machine John Collins- baritone, trombone, programming Michael Ledwidge- keys, vocals
InfluencesThe eclectic, intelligent and under-appreciated songwriting of Mark Szabo. The true rock and roll stylings of Mark Kleiner. The garage-soul-jazz of the BSESQ. The whip smart sparkle of the New Pornographers. The prodigious talent of Daniel Bejar. The DIY girly sass of Maow. The classic pop sensibility of Zumpano. The beat behind Copyright that also plays a kick-ass guitar solo. The indie-rock petri dish that is Vancouver.
Sounds LikeIndie rock, the way you remember it.

Now available in Canada through the fine (and very, very good looking) folks at Scratch Records! Also on iTunes, but only in the US. Sorry super-nerds, no vinyl yet...but we've been throwing our pennies, nickels and dimes into a jar and we've got about 18 bucks saved up just for that.

Useless fact # 436 for May 1st: The Chuck E. Cheese franchise was created by Atari, a restaurant combining robotic animals and arcade games with family meals.

'Cause nothing says family... like robots and Ms. Pac Man.

Hiya Marcy, how the heck are you doing? It's been a while since we last met - at one of the last local The Gay shows if I remember correctly - and I hope that things are happening alright for you! Have you ever seriously considered creative writing or journalism as a profession before? You seem to have a real knack for story telling! Gosh, you oughta drop by K.P.'s place for a P.P.V. sometime. I'm trying to talk him into showing the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather event on May 5. Maybe you oughta come. Hopefully Coco and Cathy will also be in attendance. Well, maybe we'll run into each other again sometime soon Marcy... Keep on rockin in the free world! :)

Re: bio

It should be mentioned that the catheter under Mr. Balogh's "natty suit" was draining a pleural effusion in his ribcage following a near-fatal bout with pneumonia, and not the variety of catheter commonly associated with incontinence. Thank you.
