I am a combo of "Don't Tread On Me" Libertarian with a good deal of elephant running through my blood, proud to be a staunch conservative, and nothing is going to change that! I am a Flag-Waving patriot. I believe in freedom, apple pie, rooting for America at all times, and that God gave us a two-day weekend so we could enjoy football and NASCAR.

I am the Help On The Homefront Coordinator as well as the State Services Captain & website administrator.

I have been a long time volunteer in the world of PCOS Advocacy, currently serving on the Board of Directors for Project PCOS and before that the President of the Board of the PCOSA. Helping women learn how to TAKE CHARGE Of their health and their medical treatment is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done in my life. Working with some amazing medical professionals has been an absolute pleasure and helping those who need to learn a tad bit more about what PCOS is, what causes it, and how to treat it (no more OLD SCHOOL ladies!!) is truly our goal. Over the years my story has been featured in publications such as NEWSWEEK, FIGURE, The Guardian, and several newspapers nationally. Visit Project PCOS at

I was named after Gone With The Wind
  • Television

I like to watch Glenn Beck.
  • Books

I thoroughly enjoy books about politics and authors like Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, Laura Ingram, Rush Limbaugh...
  • Heroes

Heroes... God, Jesus... other than that, let's just say that for now in my life I am finding the hero within. I am very thankful for a lot of people in my life and have had several great inspirations... far too many to list... but as for an actual HERO, well, I think I have to be my own hero or I will probably never get very far in life.

    SOME OF MY INSPIRATIONS INCLUDE:

My guardian angel, my sister, Candice.

Our military... Troops, Veterans, & their Families!!

About me:

I have always been intrigued by Marilyn. I was born on the 11th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's death. Maybe that has something to do with why I have always been interested in her.

I asked my friends to tell me what I should put in here and this is what they said about me so far…
• Tarra is the most genuine person I know. She would bend over backwards for her children, her husband, family and friends, leaving herself for last. She is finally doing something for herself by getting healthy - mind, body, and spirit, for not only herself but her family and friends. If you have never been around Tarra or even met her, you are missing out on a truly wonderful, special woman!
• Very giving, always putting others before herself. Loving and kind...
• Good friend, listener, helper, doer.
• You are the most kind and compassionate person. You would give a stranger your last penny if it meant you would make their life better in some way. You are funny as H-E-double hockey sticks anNNnnD every life you touch gives someone a sparkle.
* I think one of your strongest assets is your open mind. You have always seemed willing to try new things and consider new ideas. You don't box yourself in by surrounding yourself only with the familiar. I appreciate your willingness to accept even those of us who, by others, might be considered a bit freaky!
* You are SUPERHOT. You are the best person I know. You are VERY SMART. AND I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. [big secret who that was!!]
* You never cease to amaze and surprise me, little sister! I hope you realize there is nothing you can't do if you put your mind to it. Love, Big Sister. [from my sister, my beautiful guardian angel]
* Gotta be that you CARE! You want to make a difference. On the back side of that, it probably leaves you open to thoughtless hurt. Stay you, and take care of you.
* You have stayed my friend...after all these years..you never forgot me and when we re-connected, it was like we never even left off!!! And you have ONE hell of a way with words-your blogs make me laugh, cry and sneeze (ha ha) all at the same time...I think you should have been some famous writer!!
* You always stand by what you believe in Tarra!
* You are an awesome vocalist, a great friend and a wonderful mother. You stand up for what you believe in and you support projects that you truly believe in and are close to your heart. Your weakness... I don't see you when you come to town:-)
* You are so intellectual! Only you would end a night of partying and concert going with a spirited debate about politics with complete strangers.

The most important thing a person should know about me is...
I don't play the cowbell and sing at the same time unless it's for a very special occasion.

I went to college for music. I was/am a singer and in college I played Euphonium in band and trombone in jazz band.I also played trumpet for a few years in high school.

Which reminds me, there was this one time, at band camp...

I am generally goofy and laugh alot, sometimes at things that aren't really funny (that's the dark humor coming out in me). Mostly though, I have a dry sense of humor, sometimes facetious. I am passionate, sensitive, and full of emotion. I'm like an onion... a tough combination of characteristics sometimes. Many layers. In true onion fashion, I can make you cry and some people hate me, but then to others I make everything in life taste better. Like an elephant, I never forget.

I can be sarcastic, especially when it so perfectly proves a point.

Take me or leave me but do NOT judge me or there will be NO place in my life for you. There is no human being on this earth fit to sit in judgment of another. I appreciate people who have something to say, Say it once and move on. Don't hang out in my face - I do not find it at all attractive when people try to shove opinions down my throat. I respect other people's opinions, I can do that without agreeing with them or slinging mud at them.

Being the "baby" of six kids and a young aunt to many nieces and nephews, I have always really loved and been very proud of my family. You will never hear me complain about having to sit at the "kids' table" every holiday until I was 20 or all the FREE babysitting I did for my siblings. I actually really miss those things now that everyone is all grown up.

This is my family! Believe it or not, in this photo there are about 1/3 of us missing! This was a couple months before my sister, in the front in a dress, died from lung cancer. I miss her more than I could ever describe.

Overcoming my grief is a daily struggle.
I look forward to the day that I wake up & feel "It is well with my soul" ....

ABOUT MY BLOG: If you would like to be able to read it all, if you would like to be on my PREFERRED READERS LIST please just drop me a note and ask me to add you. Be sure though, that you can handle the truth. :) :) :) :) ha ha ha ha ha (that's sposed to be a really evil echoing laugh).
