    Heartland Film Festival's Interests
GeneralThe obvious interest is, well, movies. We watch movies like it's our job, always looking for the latest film worthy of being called a Truly Moving Picture award winner. It's not as easy as it sounds; each film is judged by a jury of ordinary movie-lovers who aren't afraid to tell us if they've been inspired or not.

We're extremely interested in offering programming for schools and school-aged kids to utilize, so we created (with the National Collaboration for Youth), the F.I.L.M. Project or Finding Inspiration in Literature and Movies. Check it out!

And it's true that nothing would ever reach the screen if it weren't first written down, so we encourage screenwriters to develop their craft at every opportunity. Learn more about our sister organization, The New Harmony Project, and who knows? You might be the next storyteller we're looking for.

MoviesThis Year's Truly Moving Picture Award winning films:

A Mighty Heart
Amazing Grace
August Rush
Becoming Jane
Beyond the Gates
Bridge to Terabithia
Freedom Writers
Gracie
The Hip Hop Project
Meet the Robinsons
Miss Potter
Ratatouille
The Ultimate Gift

About me:
Heartland Film Festival, a non-profit organization, was established in 1991 to recognize and honor filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life.

Each October, Heartland screens Truly Moving Pictures from around the world, ranging from dramas to documentaries to animation during the Heartland Film Festival.

In addition to the annual film festival, Heartland also created the Truly Moving Picture Award in 2000 to honor theatrically released films that inspire and enrich lives. Throughout the year, studios and producers submit their films for consideration in hopes to achieve this distinction for their films. Heartland knows that the film industry determines success of a motion picture through its opening weekend box office sales and therefore encourages audiences to attend a Truly Moving Picture Award-winning film on its first weekend of release.

If you're a film lover by any definition of the word, you should know about Heartland Film Festival. Our mission - To recognize and honor filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the postive values of life - sets us apart from other festivals and ultimately narrows the field when it comes to the films we present.

To films and filmmakers who'd like to add Heartland as a friend: We're forced to be selective when it comes to the films we "friend," as we must be confident that the story and message of the film adheres to or aligns with our mission. If you're sincerely interested in adding Heartland as a friend and think that your film is the kind we'd support, please send a quick message to info@heartlandfilmfestival.org and we'll give it a look. Becoming a friend on Heartland's MySpace in no way relates to our submission process.

Visit www.HeartlandFilmFestival.org for more information, and thanks for stopping by!

I can't wait until the festival this year and am saving vacation time so I can make it to every movie (lofty goal, but I'm going to try). During the festival this year, my music blog will switch to a movie blog and I'll blog about all of the movies I attend. Last year was simply amazing. I was introduced to great movies, really interesting people from all over and an atmosphere that I had never experienced before.

The festival that keeps giving! Apart from giving me a cash prize, a wonderful week in Indy, an award, a pretty snazzy trophy I got a distributor for my film and it's now being sold at one of the biggest markets in Europe, Clermont-Ferrand on france. I also made so many great contacts and friends all of whom I've stayed in touch with. It lead to writing two feature scripts that I wouldn't have otherwise done, and I'm talking to the contacts I made at the festival about both of them including actors, a producer and an agent. I've also found a great support group of both seasoned professionals and folks just a couple of steps ahead of me. It's been life changing. Oh, and I met my girlfriend there too!!!
So if you thinking about entering this festival then stop thinking about it and just do it.
Thanks guys, you don't how greatful I continue to be about recieving this award.
