Classical, Romantic, Celtic. "Nicely worked out arrangements between the two Sticks. Rich and full in sound." -Emmett Chapman, inventor of the Stick
Welcome to the Heartstrings site. This site is home to Matt Rogers and Mark White, Chapman Stick® fretboardists. The Stick is a unique and exquisite instrument invented in 1969 by its namesake, Emmett Chapman.
The Stick was designed to be tapped with both hands, playing bass
and melody simultaneously. This provides the tremendous musical advantage of piano-style playing, but with the soulful expression of strings. Now imagine 2 of them! The result is an elegant, enchanting sound that leaves a lasting impression upon those who encounter it.
While the Stick can be played in an infinite amount of styles, it truly shines with soft, romantic melodies. This is what we specialize in with our repertoire. From classical pieces and wedding standards to contemporary
love songs, the Stick gives a familiar song a stirring new voice every time.
This instrument is the perfect choice for weddings and events of an intimate nature. The lush, majestic backdrop it creates will help to ensure that your special day will always be looked upon as a treasure.

Playing uncrossed is nice! I've had to adjust some technique but it's worth it, I think. My return to Stick might be on an uncrossed Classic tuning Grand.
