For 15 years, the "Bad Boys of Texas Country" - and the REAL reason that live music in Acuna has become what it is - rocked the hell out of South Texas blending hard rock and country music in with 4 tons of attitude and some cool songwriting. They are now on a permanent hiatus, and involved in a variety of different musical projects, but check us out by clicking on "Madkow Billy".
NASCAR fans...click on the pic and check out my boys Mark Young and Dave Lembke as they launch their new racing website "U Want Some?". The racing site built for the fans, by the fans, "U WANT SOME?" features interactive blogs, current news, and weekly radio shows (some of which I am a small part of...hopefully more in the near future!) that provide not only a great perspective on the state of the sport and a comprehensive rundown of the week's action...but some kick-ass music as well! Give it a shot...let us know what you think!
THE RETURN OF THE LITTLE RED DEVIL...
Emerging from the Texas honky-tonks and dancehalls, Buster Jiggs is a four-piece country-rock band that has continued to evolve creating its own sound. They have broadened, yet focused their songwriting in a direction that is finding its own niche in the Texas music scene.
Forming ten years ago, this seasoned quartet has become more like a family than just a band; enabling them to overcome lineup changes that most bands could not. Rhythm guitarist Kristin Muennink gracefully and commandingly became the voice of Buster Jiggs, debuting her vocal talents on their 2007 EP Miserably Happy. Since then, Heath Childs has taken over the lead guitarist role and dazzles us with his harmony vocals and hypnotizing melodies. The pulse of the band since the garage days of Taft, Texas, remains Kristin’s husband/drummer Scott Muennink and long-time friend/bassist Cody Scherer.
You might say they have grown a little and yet they still know how to deliver the fun. They show us this from the very beginning of their newest album, Smith Music release Heartache Jubilee, and don’t let up till the end. Produced by Joseph Deeb (formerly of Micky and the Motorcars), the long anticipated and aptly titled Heartache Jubilee (which will be available in September) comprises 11 original tracks of love and angst against the backdrop of striking vocals and memorable tunes. Taking you from sawdust dance floors to riff driven rock-n-roll, this album is pure ear-candy.
“With Kristin’s unique vocal tone, Heath’s blending harmonies and melodic guitar lines, and a rhythm section locked tighter than Huntsville, this band’s got a sound and a memorable batch of songs that music fans are gonna really enjoy!” (Joseph Deeb).
So go see them at your favorite venue, and this time keep a cold one, or two, close by because you aren’t gonna be able to peel yourself away from the reenergized, reinvented music of Buster Jiggs.
