Distinctive vocalist Heather McClell fell in love with Latin music after spending two years in Brazil creating her debut album. This was recorded in alliance with Television America Latina and in collaboration with some of Brazil’s leading musicians. Back in London town, Heather continues her musical adventures with enhanced passion and a hint of Latin flavour.
Since a young age Heather has been dedicated to music and performance. The daughter of musicians, she grew up in a passionately artistic and multicultural environment. Through the many musical explorations that Heather has been involved in, what has always been apparent is her strong song writing abilities and her pure-toned, intimate and captivating voice. She paints her individuality with vocal tenderness, and lyrical honesty. After completing a degree in performance at the prestigious Dartington College of Arts, Heather decided to expand her horizons outside of Europe, choosing Brazil because of its diversity and vibrant musical tradition. She settled for two and a half years in the cosmopolitan Sao Paulo, recording her first self penned album and performing shows with her band of Brazilian internationally respected musicians.
Nothing Meant For You Passes You By contains 12 Songs, written and performed by Heather. The album combines a delicate fusion of rhythms and musical styles, which include Jazz, Folk Trip Hop, and Bossa Nova. This fusion of styles is something that Heather is continuing in Chapter two of her musical journey. She continues to write solo material and collaborate with many musicians and producers, whilst maintaining her passion for Trip Hop, Latin and acoustic.
‘sensual and sultry voiced songwriter MclCell, draws on Brazilian/bossa rhythms with a laid-back delivery perfectly matched to her laconic, confessional lyrics.’ Timeout London
..
Since her return to her home shores, Heather has performed across the UK to critical acclaim. She has had radio air play including BBC Radio Southwest and performed at some of London’s most prestigious venues including The Brazilian Embassy and The Nottinghill Arts club. She was recently a featured artist in London’s foremost Brazilian arts magazine Jungle Drums.
‘Possessor of a vibrant, dense voice, with great melodic control and jazzy phrasing - Heather sings as if she were having a conversation. The album's title track betrays the album's confessional tone’. Jungle Drums
The combination of Heathers strong performance abilities, unique vocals, and fresh musical fusion, means that she is destined for great things and is an artist to watch out for. ..
