he exciting new musical coupling of Heather Moran and Gabriel Datcu has been a whirlwind. Their easy rapport and musical chemistry create a unique and exciting sound. Individually, they both have their own successful music careers. Heather has performed in many of Chicago’s top settings: nightclubs, weddings, private and corporate functions, and some notable venues such as The Odyssey, Katerina’s, Grant Park, Andy’s Jazz, Park West, The Acorn Theater in Michigan’s Three Oaks, Martyr;s Davenport’s and Drury Lane Water Tower. She just recently ended an 12-month engagement at Chicago Old Town’s wonderful Bistrot Margot and can be seen periodically performing at Katerina’s on Irving Park. She most recently was a regular performer at Tivoli Ristorante in West Chicago and frequently performs for the city of Chicago’s Cultural Affairs department. Heather is currently singing in the critically acclaimed musical trio, 3Girls3. Heather is an active member of Chicago Cabaret Professionals and currently serves on the board as Co-Press Governor. Gabriel is no stranger to performing with some of Chicago great jazz artists. Gabriel Datcu started studying music since he was four years old, playing the accordion, classical piano and guitar. He studied under great jazzists in his home country of Romania as a teen and eventually played out in the Budapest jazz scene with the likes of Marius Pop, Sorin Romanescu and Tudy Zaharescu. He attended the
Music Conservatory in Bucharest and later toured Europe with Pachea's Jazz Big Band. In 2000, he came to the US and received full scholarships to DePaul and NIU, where he studied under Bob Palmieri and Fareed Haque. Frank
Rumoro, Peter Ballin and David Bloom are other mentors of note. Gabriel has also had the privilege of studying under John Scofield and Pat Metheny, two of his biggest influences. He is currently working on a great deal of jazz
improvisations and recording projects involving classical music.
