About HOTTER THAN JULY - NEW MUSIC AND NEW MIXTAPE
HeatWave - It’s no surprise that Heatwave, aka The Fresh Prince of the City, is the next big thing coming straight out of Van City. The, at times, lethargic hip-hop scene on Canada’s west coast is anxiously anticipating Heatwave’s every move and he promises to represent the entire country the way it is supposed to be represented while making an epic impact on the hip-hop industry, both nationally and internationally. Sharing the stage at a sold-out show in 2006 with Juelz Santana, the Heatwave movement was launched and the momentum has continued to build at a rapid pace. Since then he has gone on to perform alongside the likes of Akon, Rihanna, Damien & Stephen Marley (Haiti Music Festival), K-OS, The Game, Elephant Man, Sean Paul, Lupe Fiasco, Chamillionaire, Lloyd Banks, Devin the Dude, Fat Joe, Slum Village, Sean Kingston, Paul Wall, Mike Jones and DL Incognito proving that he possesses the swagger and flow to hold his own on the same stage as some of the hottest and most influential artists in the game. Currently signed to Killawatt Records, owned and operated by Van City hip-hop pioneer and Canadian legend Red1 of the Rascalz, Heatwave continues to craft an identity in both the underground and commercial scenes even being likened to Nas by Abort Magazine. With Red1 as his primary mentor Heatwave is blessed with the support he needs to nourish his rapidly emerging talents. Over the past year, Heatwave has been fortunate enough to tour the world, including hip-hops birthplace of New York, all the while leaving a permanent mark everywhere he’s stepped PERIOD! NOW, with the release of his newest and HOTTEST mix-tape project yet, “The Masses: Volume 1 hosted by DJ Kemo”, Heatwave looks to take hip-hop fans by storm. Each track on the talented rapper’s mix-tape is musically unique but they all capture and display the powerful essence and flavour of the West Coast at its finest. With an array of lyrical topics, moods and tempos, Heatwave is here to shake things up a bit as he continues to ascend to the upper echelons of the game. You can consider Heatwave a breath of fresh air to the hip-hop scene. A member of the large movement on the West Coast of the continent called the “B.L.O.C.K.S.T.A.R.S.” (Black Leaders Overcoming Criticism with the Knowledge to Succeed Through All Restrictions, S.t.a.r.s.) consisting of 300+ members throughout Vancouver, Seattle, and Los Angeles using their size and talents to get involved in everything from music to charity. Heatwave describes his affiliation with the group by saying, “I’m Heatwave through and through but I rep S.t.a.r.s. everywhere I go. It’s just as much a part of me as this rap stuff”. Heatwave is definitely a hip-hop force to be reckoned with! http://www.myspace.com/heatwaveteam
