British Electric Foundation presents Heaven 17 performing Penthouse And Pavement live for the very first time
Have you heard it on the news?
Now, as it was then…from the partnership that’s opening doors all over the world….
In 2010 Heaven 17 will perform their seminal 1981 album of the year ‘Penthouse And Pavement’ live in its entirety for the very first time.
Featuring original members - lead singer Glenn Gregory and synthesist and vocalist Martyn Ware, together with backing vocalist Billie Godfrey, electric guitarist Asa Bennett, Joel Farland on electronic percussion and legendary bass guitarist Randy Hope-Taylor.
Lighting designer Pip Rhodes will coordinate a live digital visual show featuring some of the biggest names and most talented up-and-coming artists from the worlds of digital and graphic design, fine art and film, including Chris Bird (United Visual Artists), graphic designer Malcolm Garrett, Mike Faulkner (D-Fuse), famous artist Tim Head, Ian Anderson (Designers Republic), Ross Phillips (ShowStudio), Brian Duffy (Modified Toy Orchestra), James Strong, Kim Leliboux, Ed Cookson (The Sancho Plan), BAFTA-winning filmmaker Julian Henriques, Ben Tomlinson, James Bates, Chris Cheeseman and, of course, Pip Rhodes and Heaven 17 themselves.
The event will be curated from the moment the audience enters the venue, as the LED wall will be showing the visual artists’ interpretations of BEF compositions from the same period, including tracks from BEF albums ‘Music For Stowaways’ and ‘Music Of Quality And Distinction Vol.1’ – and all artists have been allowed to express their interpretations freely with no prior guidance from Heaven 17. The artists contributing to this ‘group show’ will be credited – this will be a world-first multimedia show – part art installation and part concer – the evening culminating with Penthouse And Pavement being performed in its entirety, the two sides punctuated by special BEF performances featuring surprise guest singers.
This will be a unique opportunity for the audience to immerse themselves in Heaven 17 and BEF’s futuristic musical vision of the period, using today’s technologies and sensibilities – this is no nostalgia show…
...We’re going to live for a very long time…

Nokia Night Of The Proms
Germany – December 2009, NEW DATES ANNOUNCED
Heaven 17 are thrilled to announce that they will be taking part in this year’s Nokia Night Of The Proms tour in Germany throughout December. Featuring Heaven 17, Roxette, Alan Parsons and John Miles – all the acts will be performing with a 70 piece orchestra and 50 piece choir.
‘Naked as advertised’ is a newly recorded album by Heaven 17
Featuring Tracks derived from their live set as well as a few real collectors items of oddities and rarities...
There is even one brand new, never heard before Heaven 17 song, ‘Don’t Fall’.
Some of these tracks reach back into the very earliest days of Heaven 17.
Re-visited and re-worked they sound as fresh today as they ever did.
A beautiful version of the Associates' ‘Party Fears Two’ originally performed at the Billy Mackenzie memorial concert makes you take a second look at this classic and beautiful song.
There are even tracks that pre-date Heaven 17 with covers of the original ‘Human League’ songs ‘Being Boiled and ‘Empire State Human’ the latter sounding as if it would be quite at home in the soundtrack of ‘A Clockwork Orange’ the film from which Heaven 17 took their name...
There is also a version of their classic hit ‘Temptation’ featuring Billie Godfrey on vocals, and as anyone that has ever seen them play live will testify this just has to be heard.
Billie takes this always-classic diva moment to a brand new high...
Originally recorded to go along side the forthcoming ‘Steel City’ tour, ‘Naked As Advertised’ stands proudly alongside any previous Heaven 17 album, beautiful crafted quirky and eccentric and completely listenable. This album is a must for any Heaven 17 fan and will probably create quite a few more fans along its way...
New album. A sensitive 2009? heat, work, stress, repression, chat in excess lead to nothing good. Baila! Baila! "Diagrama Percutor" the new Ford Proco sonic vehicule.
