Bio:

Malte Vief is a composer and guitarist. He is a musician caught between the two poles of concert and rock music. Through this conflict, Vief's style has emerged and been labelled 'HeavyClassic'. HeavyClassic is concert music that rocks. In November 2006, the eponymous debut album was reviewed as outstanding by leading magazines, with 'Gitarre und Bass' (Guitar and Bass) awarding Vief Best Newcomer of the Month. Right now there are two albums in the making: 'Euphoryon', a collaboration with cellist Matthias Huebner, and concept album Antigo, HeavyClassic with echoes of Renaissance and Baroque, played by the band HeavyClassic. In the meantime, Vief is performing 80 concerts this year and has already played the impressive Semper Operahouse, international guitar and rock festivals, and on radio and TV (ARD, ZDF and other channels). He has been a finalist and prize winner at international competitions (including Open Strings, taking the European Guitar Award). Vief teaches at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy in Dresden, Germany, and is regularly invited to workshops across the whole of Germany. Some of his compositions have appeared in print. He plays guitar strings from HANNABACH and uses AER amplification. Malte Vief ist Komponist und Gitarrist. Er stand als Musiker immer im Spannungsfeld zwischen Konzert- und Rockmusik. Mittlerweile hat sich aus diesen beiden Neigungen ein Personalstil herauskristallisiert, den Malte Vief mit "HeavyClassic" benannt hat. HeavyClassic ist konzertante Musik, die rockt. Im November 2006 erschien das gleichnamige Debut Album, das in führenden Magazinen herausragend besprochen wurde. In "Gitarre und Bass" wurde der Musiker Newcomer-Band des Monats. Zur Zeit entstehen zwei Alben: eine Duo Platte mit Matthias Hübner am Cello in der Formation Euphoryon und das Konzeptalbum Antigo, HeavyClassic mit Rennaissance- und Barock Anklängen, gespielt von der HeavyClassic-Band. Malte Vief gibt mittlerweile 80 Konzerte im Jahr. Zu seinen Bühnen zählten bisher u. a. die Semperoper sowie internationale Gitarren- und Rockfestivals. Er studierte in Bremen, Hamburg und Dresden (Thomas Fellow) und wurde als Gitarrist und Komponist Preisträger und Finalist internationaler Wettbewerbe (u. a. European Guitar Award, Open Strings). Malte Vief lehrt an der Hochschule "Carl Maria von Weber" in Dresden und wird deutschlandweit regelmäßig zu Workshops eingeladen. Er spielt Saiten der Firma HANNABACH und verstärkt mit AER.
