Traditional true-to-the-roots heavy metal is once again on the rise.

New bands are forming worldwide and proudly flying the flag for the much-missed true heavy metal scene, but this growing scene is certainly no mere re-tread or hipster-led 80's fad, no way.

Far from it - every band included on this compilation is undoubtedly paying homage to the classic NWOBHM era and heavy metal sounds of the past, but all are more interested in looking forwards than back.

This new wave of modern heavy metal means worship of the simple but head-bangingly effective riff, plus - shock horror - the lead singer returns once more to the fore, displaying that rarest of talents - a powerful true heavy metal voice - a skill which had almost died out in this age of growlers.
